I had a chat with a male friend back in the UK earlier who has recently completed a course of antibiotics for acne rosacea. Unfortunately the antibiotics made him very sick so he cannot continue with them and his face is suffering. He said he read somewhere that laser treatments can help acne rosacea but I really don't know much about it. Can anyone recommend a laser procedure that could help that he could get in the UK? Money isnt an issue as he is prepared to pay anything at this stage. Thanks !

The laser treatments they do now really are wonderful. It is virtually painless and the effects are amazing. They are costly- at one point I talked to a derm about it and it was $600 a treatment. Number of treatments depends on how bad the skin is. Keep in mind I looked into it several years ago in Canada- price may have come down and prices may be different in the UK.

I didn't get it done but I have had some lasering done around my nose for the broken capillaries.

My skin isn't that bad- my sister has it worse and uses the creams, which she likes.

My heritage is English/Irish and we do tend to be prone to Rosacea.

I would tell him to book a treatment and see what he thinks. Men do tend to suffer more with Rosacea- symptoms do tend to be worse for men if left untreated (some men get that large, red bulbous nose)

Thanks Stacey, that is really helpful. His parents are actually Irish and the doctor apparently told him it was the "celtic curse". He is ready to pay anything to clear this problem up now. He is in his early forties and its getting worse. I feel so sorry for him. I will recommend that he visits a private dermatologist with the intent of pursuing laser treatment. Very grateful for the response. Thanks !
