Hi. I am an Israeli citizen, currently in the last stages of my Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology. I have spent last 4 years in US on the J1 visa. Recently I've married my girlfriend who is an American citizen. We will greatly appreciate your help in starting the AOS process. Maybe someone can post a link to the most informative post on this forum. As we both students, and our budget is limited we are planning to fill and send the forms by ourself. Avery tip and advise is appreciated. We are just started to deal with AOS and we know almost nothing about the procedures.

Thank you for your help.

I'm an F1 Student on a PhD program as well so I think we're in the same area. The only thing is, since you're on a J1, do you have an obligations to work in your home country after completing study? That might cause a hitch in your i485. There's a clause in there about that.

If not, here's the link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide2

GREAT!

I've done everything myself as well. It's really not that difficult. The link explains everything perfectly. You just need to file to adjust status to PR.
