PITTSBURGH – Three superdelegates in 36 hours.

That was the good news from Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign on Thursday, a rare string of endorsements for a candidate who has watched one superdelegate after another pledge their support to Senator Barack Obama.

Her campaign was gleeful over two superdelegate endorsements on Thursday, as Mrs. Clinton arrived in Pennsylvania for a full day of campaigning.

Sophie Masloff, a former mayor of Pittsburgh, will endorse Mrs. Clinton Thursday night at a dinner for Allegheny County Democrats.

The Clinton campaign said that they have also picked up the support of Bill Burga, a former president of the Ohio AFL-CIO.

Jackie Speier, a California lawmaker who this week took over the late Tom Santos's seat in Congress, has also announced her endorsement of Mrs. Clinton.

Mr. Obama countered by picking up one superdelegate endorsement on Thursday, from Wayne Holland, the chairman of the Utah Democratic Party.

Since Feb. 5. dozens of superdelegates have pledged their support to Mr. Obama while Mrs. Clinton's count has been relatively unchanged. She still leads Mr. Obama in superdelegates, but he now only trails her by less than 30, with the preferences of some 240 still unknown, according to The New York Times's survey.

Obama still has a 6% lead in the pledged delegate count and a 4% overall count delegate lead. Not overwhelming, but certainly significant.

The race goes on!

In the overall count, Obama leads by 131 (1,642 to 1,511). He has a 164 pledged-delegate lead (1,416 to 1,252).
