Anybody who cites that article as some sort of derogatory commentary about a young lawyers first years of practice doesn't know squat about the trade.

It's an article about the facts of his practice & his current embellishments in speeches, not a law textbook. ;)

We aren't talking about law school.

Jeez.

law textbook does not mean law school does it? It's called reference.

You cite that as a reference and any lawyer will laugh you out of town.

Are we in a lawyer's office here? Last I checked VJ is most specifically NOT a law firm & no one should speak as lawyers unless they are, of course, lawyers.

Secondly, stop making this about 'THE TRADE' or even law school cuz VJ is not either one of those. ;)

:ot2:

Round and round the mulberry bush.

We aren't citing case law here, silly girl. We are talking about what a young lawyer has to do to enter the field.

So you have to insult me based on age to make your point? Desperate times...

And, no the article is not about what the lawyer has to do. I suggest you re-read it if you think so. It's about what Obama has done AS A LAWYER, in his past. Not what he tells people he has done, but the facts.

The facts are this. Every young lawyer goes through the same thing. Participation in 30 cases in 4 years is actually quite impressive.

But you're young and inexperienced and don't know these things.

Did I miss the "I practiced under sniper fire" claim somewhere? :P

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

No, I'm not a lawyer. Don't care to be either.

And last I checked, neither are you. ;)

Your siggie used to say so. but of course, I didn't screenshot it - SILLY ME! More words:

I realize you have an aversion to lawyers. I work for one but that's not the reason I get in their corner. Even my boss says the 'rep' ain't so great. I advocate for the advocates because WE ON VJ ARE LAYPEOPLE. We don't know the nuances of things that a good qualified lawyer does.

It's my opinion (from being in the profession as support personnel) that many laypeople think an attorney can handle any type of legal matter. In reality they are just as specialized as doctors. So going to your local family lawyer isn't a good choice for immigration matters.

My boss is a real estate lawyer - he wouldn't touch immigration law with a ten-foot pole and will happily tell you so. The other partner in our firm does personal injury work. I had a very funny conversation with him last Thursday about the paperwork procedures for an immigrant. He was as clueless as any Joe Blow citizen.

Pretty creepy how some people have claims to information not added during VJ registration... :o

Indeed.

"Last time I checked..."

I mean... how would you check? How can you know?

Some things are self-evident - for example, if I laid claim to certain educational qualifications but lack detailed knowledge in my postings on topics related to that subject. Perhaps I should reinvent myself as a medical doctor - someone might twig though if I were to suggest that trepanning is a reasonable cure for a common headache.

Looking for a new host, are you?

Sorry, that should've read: Last time you wrote it in your siggie, you weren't.
