Hello All,

I am new to this site. My wife and I started this whole process back in October 2007. She had her fingerprints taken in January. Our interview was March 11th, 2008. During our interview we didn't really know what to expect as and we thought we had brought enough evidence of our marriage as it seems pretty obvious our marriage is real to us. Well apparently we didn't bring enough to satisfy him. Specifically, he was looking for a lease with both our names on it and bills. I am on a temporary one year assignment and my company leases an apartment for me that my wife and I live in together. So we don't have a lease with our name on it. The only bill she is on is the electric bill because they usually ask for her social sec number which I have not memorized yet so I usually just put myself down when we get started somewhere. Anyway, we submitted about 30 additional photos of both of us together, electric bill, and 2007 tax return with married filing jointly. We keep separate bank accounts because, like I said I am on a temporary assignment and my bank is out of state. It just seems ridiculous that we have to conform to the "cookie cutter" marriage profile. We are 24 and 25 and still growing in our marriage and figuring out how we want to arrange things. It's hard enough without worrying how the government is going to "view" us. Anyone have a similar experience or any advice? I'm considering hiring a lawyer but not sure how I can get these bureaucrats to hurry up.
