Interview to Visa Timelines

I think this question might have been posed on another post, but I can't find it. Does anyone know why the wait time between interview to visa is moving so much fast as of late than it had in the past? It seemed when I first logged on here people were talking about minimums of 3 mos of AP, and now it seems that everyone who has an interview is immediately approved...and then there are the poor souls who have been waiting months, or even years...did they forget about those people? I was just wondering if anyone knew why it's this way (I'm not complaining mind you!)?

Jeanie,

I have heard it is because the Embassy has gotten new staff in Cairo but I am not sure. I know there are a few of us still that have interviewed since the beginning of the year and are in AP. I am probably not the best help but thought I'd share what I know.

Tasha

As of mid feb. there was a new head visa guy in Cairo. From my understanding there has been a lot of "temp" head officers. Perhaps they have gotten a handle on things under the new direction. As far as AP people are still being held there after the interview. If you look at a lot of the people who are approved fast you will see. The either have kids together, exstensive visits, time spent abroad together or they meet in the states, a unique story or are arab themselves.

my interview was in march and no visa yet and same respond from the embassy (final review) and lynn&ahmen . Ahmed&cherry in feb and still no visa

so i dont think there is any changes its still so slow

“Love is patient; love is kind

and envies no one.

Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;

never selfish, not quick to take offense.

There is nothing love cannot face;

there is no limit to its faith,

its hope, and endurance.

In a word, there are three things

that last forever: faith, hope, and love;

but the greatest of them all is love.”

I have no idea but I can tell you the consular got our case in Jan and it's now April and we still haven't gotten a packet three or an interview request. So?

Olivia, that happened to me - and it's not normal.... In the end they had never sent out the pkt 3, but kept insisting they did. After 3 months of verifying his adress with the embassy, I ended up contacting my senator to get an inquiry and formally requesting an extension on the 4 month approval. I both emailed it and sent DHL to the embassy. It was only then, 1 week later, that they sent the pkt 3 to me via email.

PM me if you want more info.

Like ealier post most of the recent "fast" visas were for people that had an established relationship, usually outside of the country...etc.

The others like Briget and myself our SOs had their interviews last year and we have been in AP hell for months. Maybe the new management at the Embassy is trying to clear out those that should have been cleared out from before, like me and Bridget, and now trying to handle the new cases they way we all should have been taken care of in the first place.

Well that is good news since we haven't heard anything. I need to delay the process anyways because he's in the Egyptian military right now and the I-129F is useless to us.

I'm sure hoping that is what they are doing is clearing out the older ones and processing the others like they should be. We have a child together and that didn't matter diddly squat to them. We just want fair treatment like all the others not special treatment but I hope for everybody waiting they keep the ball rollin'.

Also Olivia, something kind of similar happend to us but not exactly. Our papers were sent to Cairo from NVC 12/17 and Cairo never logged them in their shared database. So when I called DOS they said the papers haven't made it there. Cairo sent me packet 3 information by email and I had made an inquiry to the senator because I could never get an answer on whether or not I should go ahead and send in our packet 3 information. To make a long story short...the senator sent me the response from Richard Herman and it stated that they weren't able to verify Ayman's address. Well, strange thing is that one week after he sent in all of his packet 3....he got the dhl packet 4 interview letter. So, I agree with polarbear, involve your senator,have them inquiry and help you.

Thx Tasha. I posted a topic: "Who do I call to cxl'n a visa". We're going to either delay the I-129F since it's useless at this point because he's serving in the Egyptian Military until March 1, 2009 or we're canceling it all together and going for the CR-1. If that's possible. Since we have time with this delay we need to delay the visa.

Hey all one more thing... If you need to contact a Senator how do you know which one to contact if there is more than one for your state? Also what do you say to your Senator? I mean how is it communicated and gone about? Do they know it's their responsibility? I'm uncertain how that all works.

I understand. I hate that the Egyptian Military is keeping him for his entire duty. I hope that you will do ok during all of this and maybe be able to concentrate on your studies. If you ever need anything just send me a message. Best wishes on your decision...I can't help much don't know anything besides the K1 Visa stuff and I'm still learning.
