Going through a few problems at the moment namely about affadvait of support, was hoping some people here could give me some answers about the following

For the first part when i go to the embassy in London, am i correct in thinking that my fiancee just needs to demonstrate 100% of the poverty level, and if she cant make it, i am also under the understanding that the embassy in london will also allow me to at least part support myself, are both of these statements correct??

secondly, once we are married and applying for aos, i understand that we would need to earn 125% of the poverty level for the household size. im also aware that once married i can work, do both our earnings count towards the income for the household, or is it just my to be wifes??

thnx for any help in advance

Mark,

What you need to demonstrate to the consulate for a K visa is that you will not become a public charge after entering the USA. Having a suitable US sponsor is one way to do that, and an income of at least 100% of the poverty level is one of the criteria for a suitable sponsor. It may not be the only thing that is taken into account.

You can work in the USA once you have both a Social Security card and authorization to work from the USCIS, whether or not you are married yet. Your income can be included with your wife's for her I-864 once you have been living together for 6 months.

Yes, Yodrak is totally right. I am a living witness to that cos at the time I went to the embassy for my interview, I only demostrate that my wife is earning above the 100% and now am trying to get my EAD and start working before we apply for the AOS so that my income will be combined to that of my wife for us to meet the 125% for the 1864 affidavit of support.

Embassy admit having petition (interview date not known yet) 20th Oct 2005

London is one of the few Embassies that allows self-sponsorship. As you haven't filled in your timeline I can't see what stage you are at but the instructions with pk3 give full details. What they are looking for is property, stock and shares, insurance policies and investments or a firm job offer.

Good Luck
