Hi Again!

Quick question, when filing the 129F packet - does the copy of my divorce decree/name change need to be the official copy with the raised seal or can it be just a photocopy?

Also, my decree contains my name change - they aren't separate documents. Will this be an issue?

Thanks so much.

As per the faq's...

a copy is fine to file the petition however you should have a certified copy on hand and perhaps to send your fiance for the interview in case they do ask for an original at a later stage.

Don't send originals of your divorce decrees or passport. Send copies and attach a statement that the originals are available.

You will need a copy of your marriage license as well...

Proof of Legal Name Change if either the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance(e) is using a name other than that shown on the relevant documents. You must give USCIS copies of the legal documents that made the change, such as a marriage certificate, adoption decree or court order.
