I tried to read in Turkish but the link is not working! We already sent the papers! I wanna ask you something, what is the receipt number? does it mean they will look at our file soon? We called them today and they said they will send a receipt number tomorrow! 3 months is a very long time for us because we will not have anywhere to stay end of the month :-( Also do you think they will tell my husband to go alone and get a house and a job then I can go? He is self-employed sohe has a job when he goes back also we will stay with his parents plus he has a car in california (we sent the documents for that) We met in california so we have a lot of pics to proof our marriage.. we are just very stressed out...

You should just google "US Embassy Ankara Turkce" then and you can find it. 3 months is very fast as far as anything visa-related is concerned. I remember another couple on here did DCF around the same time as us and it went faster, but even then it was still 2 months or so.

I believe you need to go to the interview together.

I can see the web site but I can not see the info about I-130! Well I've already read it I don't think we are missing any documents! Did you get a receipt number when you applied? how long did it take to get one?

Pardon I am late....Welcome

Hi All!

I am new here. I hope I can help you guys and I can get some advices!

I am Turkish and My husband is American. My husband has been in Turkey for 6 months. We will send all the papers this Tuesday to Ankara (DCF). Before we send it I have a couple questions.

My husband never got the residince permisson! He went to Cyprus every 3 months and renew his visa. When we called the consulate they said it's no problem as long as he has the entries and exits on his passport. We didn't get any resident visa for him because I talked to a few people they told me If he gets it then the consulate causes a lot of problems (like they tell him to go back to the US by himself and prove his resident there) so he only has the tourist visa. Do you guys think it will be a problem?

Also I didn't see anywhere in the form If we need a cover letter but here everybody says they wrote one. Do we need one?

When we pay the 355$ at Fortis bank(Cashier's check) are we gonna say it is for immigrant visa? does my husband (American) or do I have to get the check?

We will send it this week and one of my friends said that it takes for 8 months! is this true? I thought it takes for 3 months.

Thanks for all the answers :)

How is everyone doing?

Wishing everyone well.... (F)

Debbie

Wow so long time no news from anyone.....

I know lucky Tanya and Mindi are currently in Turkey as I speak.

As for us...Hamit still has no job and in fact, we kinda have given up on him having one for some time so he is enrolled in community college ESL classes that start tomorrow. So that will give him something to chew on for a while. We will be working on babies soon...so hope I have some good news by years end! Anyhow, nothing else going on...Hamit is fully "adjusted" has been for a long time now, though of course he knows things aren't perfect here. I have 2 jobs now as OT is gone along with the economy. Joy.

Haven't heard from Julia?

Jenn...I think you are doing OK considering....I read up on your site from time to time. Hope all is well there still.

How is Ramazan for everyone? He he... Me and Hamit fasted for just one day...and I think though I converted to Islam a while back, I am so over the organized religion thing....again. But hey, I will fast if he does.

Hopefully some of you post updates!

Hi Everyone,

Just thougth I would stop in and say hi and see how everyone is. My last chemo session was this past Friday.

That's the plan anyway. I will have a CT scan on October 1 and if all looks good then we will proceed as planned with just a few scans a year. If it doens't look good then it's back to the chemo cocktails.

I must say NO to that.. stick with the plan.

Our fall is pretty busy with business trips to Phillipines and Singapore ( as long as I am cleared to travel) and then a trip home to Istanbul the week before Thanksgiving. We want to go for Bayram... and then trips to Detroit and Vegas to see my mom and dad at Christmas and New years.

I just have no time for Chemo :):)

Fuat is adjusting as best he can, but it's hard with a wife who can't do much three weeks out of the month. Once this chemo stuff is all over I am praying things get better.

I really hope Hamit finds something soon.. though the ESL classes will probably help.

WIshing you all the best.

Jenn

Hey everybody. How's it going? Our baby, Nora, was born on Sept 4 so we've been pretty busy for the past month. My wife and mom are going to take the baby to Turkey some time around April 2011 (tax return time!!!) so that she can spend a while with her other half of the family. I wish I could go too, but Nora had some issues that landed her in the NICU for antibiotics during her first few days, so most of my vacation time is gone already. She weighed 5lbs 13oz when she was born, but already she's past 7lbs as of a week ago.

Come February we'll file for removal of conditions for Handan. I hope everybody has a good week.
