My passport expires on September 24th 2008, and I've become aware that it will have to be valid for at least 6 months from the date of the interview. So it's going to be pretty tight.

Should I get a brand new passport? Or is there a way of just adding some time on to my existing passport? Or should I just wait to see if my interview date falls before the 6 month deadline and then just fast track it if it goes later than that?

How long do they take to renew generally and how much?

21/12/2007 - NOA2 issued

31/12/2007 - NOA2 hard copy

28/01/2008 - Packet 3 received

11/02/2008 - Packet 3 forms & checklist returned to Embassy

13/02/2008 - Medical

28/02/2008 - Packet 4 received

20/03/2008 - Interview @ 10am - APPROVED

28/03/2008 - Visa in hand

14/04/2008 - POE Detroit (DTW)

22/05/2008 - Married

AOS

06/06/2008 - AOS & EAD filed

13/06/2008 - NOA1 letter received

14/07/2008 - Biometrics appointment

14/08/2008 - EAD production ordered

23/08/2008 - EAD card received

14/01/2009 - Green card producation ordered (No interview required)

22/01/2009 - Green card recieved

Personally, yes I would renew it. You can add up to 9 months unexpired time from your old passport onto a new one. This site should answer all your questions
