Hi everyone!

I just filed and I have noticed on some timelines that they know about their NOA1 before they receive the hard copy. How do you do this? I was checking on the uscus.gov website and it asks for your receipt number to check your status...I am confused.

How can you check without your receipt number (I was under the assumption your receipt/case number is on your NOA1)??

THANKS!!!!!

LaPrincessa,

The receipt number is on the NOA1, but if you pay by check, you can usually see your receipt number on the back of the canceled check.

Many people can view their checks online from their bank, and see the image of the back - zoom in, find the number and try the USCIS site to see if it shows up. (Sometimes there is a lag time before cases will be track-able on the USCIS site though.)

I concur. Back of the check. Have to watch that though, my MSC number from the 129F check (paid 2 fees, it was before the increase) was tied to a rejected AOS case that I never filed, so I had to wait on that one and cross my fingers that the wires didnt get crossed at CIS with my actual case.

Hi,

We saw yesterday that our check was cashed!!!!

Some banks (like ours) scan copies of cashed checks. The case number is on the back of the check. Since you filed with VSC just like us, the case number starts with EAC. You have to subscribe to the USCIS site in order to check the petition's status online.

Good luck and let's hope for a speedy process!!!
