Event Description

Embassy Review : Overall it was a smooth process. I was with my fiancee as she went through the process. First you are escorted into the waiting area to have a seat. Then my fiancee (and only her) was escorted to a booth where she received her number provided that her application was in order. Then we wait for her number to be called for biometrics and primary screening. First they called her for biometrics. No problems there. Make sure your fingers are warm . The biometric scanner does not like cold fingers. Then we were called for primary screening. We were both asked questions, but they mostly asked her about evidence of relationship. They asked me for my most recient W2 and 1040 transcript. Then we wait for final screening. At Final screening, the consolate officer was very official with us, which made us a little nervous. He asked if we knew some names that we had never heard of. We then found out that her biometrics were mixed up with someone else. Officer corrected the issue, asked a few questions, then approval. Overall a good experience. It did take all morning, 7am to 12:30pm. But not a hard process at all.

POE Review: Chicago
Event Description
Entry Date : 2009-11-21
Embassy Review : Entry was smooth and fast. I had actually went through the US citizen line while my fiancee went through the Visa line. I retrieved the luggage and only had to wait a few minutes until she cleared immigration. They asked her basic questions, nothing too difficult. They asked things like where are you headed, who is your fiancee, birthdays, etc. Nothing difficult. Breezed through customs. It took longer to get through normal airport security than it took to clear POE. The officer was pleasant and welcomed my fiancee to the USA. If you practiced questions for your Visa interview, POE is a breeze.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
