Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : October 29, 2009
Embassy Review : My interview schedule was for 7 in the morn. My mom and I arrived at the US Consulate holding grounds for applicants at 5.45am and then15 minutes later I was called to line up for entry and security checks at the main gates. That all went for 10 minutes. Upon entry at the immigrant visa unit, clerical checks for all DS forms were done and I was given a queuing number. That was done in exactly 3 minutes. Fingerprint scanning happened 30 minutes after that at Window 16. Someone helps for the right imprint pressure on the digital contraption. Four minutes being seated after that, the very young lady pre-screener had then displayed my assigned number up to be screened at Window 18 and she only asked for my personal identification and security clearance papers, the affidavit of support together with the tax transcripts from my love and our pictures. She didn't even bother to ask for the letter of employment of my man so I asked if she wants it as well as the other proofs of relationship. She outrightly said, Ma'am that really isn't necessary because the DOS already knows everything they need to know about your fiance and in fact, of you as well. WOW! SURPRISED! And then she added, hence some may not even get thoroughly grilled by the Consular Officer if everything is true and in order to the visa requirements, and you might just be one of those. REALLY! EVEN MORE SURPRISED! That was done in 3 minutes, she had me sign all the DS forms and after waiting for 10 more minutes seated on one of the blue seats, I was called to the interview room 31. True enough, after being sworn in by the - very nice and kind - consul, I was pleasantly congratulated for the soon wedding and I was just inside that room for 2 minutes. Talk about... HUH?!?!?!?! MOST SURPRISED! The longest wait was to be called at Window 37 to be given the final instructions for payment and delivery of visa which took about 39 minutes. So much for the very little sleep in the past week. I found the scheme of things really organized at the US Consulate in Manila and it went smoother than I imagined for myself to have experienced! God is fantastic!

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
