Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 15, 2009
Embassy Review : Arrived at Consulate on time, short line before me. You get called up to a window on the outside of the consulate, where they check on your appointment and hand you a number, that number will be YOUR number for that day, mine was "W505". Then had to wait a few minutes at the security line, with a really funny security officer, always going "That's gonna be a awesome day people! Just wanna remind you: No electronical devices, cell phones, microwaves, refrigerators etc.!" LOL Then me and another person got called into the first building, where they do the security screening. They took my umbrella out of my purse and gave me a number (so I can pick it up again afterwards). Then we left the building and walked over to the next one. There was a huge room, with a glass roof, seating for almost 300 people, and at the walls like 35 windows where the consulate office sit behind. The guy at the entrance told me to go in the very back and take a seat there. It was 7:40am by then. A few people sat there as well. After 10 min. they finally opened window 23, and started, I was the 4th person in row. When I got to the window I had to give the lady my passport, my Visa Deposit Slip and one picture. The lady said the pic wasn't ok, because I wore tincy wincy earrings, which obviously gave my head shape a different form. She said I could make a new one, or wait until her coworker at the other window took a look at it. So I didn't get new pics done. Then she told me to get Stamps worth 4,25 Euro and she also handed me the envelope for the stamps. I also got the blue sheet, where it asks me to put my forms in the right order. Then got seated again. After waiting another 10min. I got called up to another window, where I had to show my Birth certificate, my police record and the affidavite of support. The lady got a shock when I handed her all the supporting documents that my fiance had sent me, and she picked out the papers that she needed. Then she told me about the next steps, what the envelope will include that I get the visa with and what will happen in the US at the POE. She said I may be seated again, until my number is called again for the interview with the consule. After 30min. waiting I had to go to window 16 where the Consule waited for me. He took my fingerprints, and then asked me how I met my fiance (he also made a joke, lol) If he was stationed in Germany, what he works and what I wanna work as in the US. Then he told me that I will receive my visa as soon as the missing data from my medical gets to the consulate. I asked him about my picture and the earrings, he said I was fine. And that was it! In disbelieve I even asked "Was that it, I am done?" He said yes, and wished me a nice day! Besided the security guy, everyone talked in German to me. I did not get asked if I wanted to speak in English or German. It was really good!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
