Biometrics Taken : No
Harassment Level : 10
Comments : Laurier land crossing (why is this not in the list?) WA - Supervisor there was not going to let us bring the car over unless it was compliant. Stayed there 3 hours until we finally got his bosses boss and he wrote on the import form that we agreed to make it compliant before registering it which is what we had been told by NY state to have done and we told him that. He was going to make us split up (after he had stamped my visa, so I couldn't go back to Canada!!!) and take it to another crossing to have someone put it in Bond or something. Or store it at some person's place nearby in the middle of nowhere and come and get it later!!!! Imagine the costs and organizing that. We are putting in a formal complaint about the way we were treated. Watch out for OFFICER MANSON!

Consulate Review: Vancouver, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 30, 2009
Embassy Review : People there were really nice and the interview was a breeze. They asked questions about our work, what we make per year, how we met and when we were getting married and if we had some evidence of relationship and I showed them what I had gathered since submitting the I-129. The entire process took about 2 hours, most of it just sitting and waiting. They took fingerprints there as well. Best thing... have your forms organized and exactly what they ask for.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Vancouver
Event Description
Entry Date : 2009-06-19
Embassy Review : We had a terrible time at the border getting my car across, the fellow was on a power trip and decided to try and split us up, me driving through the US (I could no longer go back to Canada as my Visa was stamped) and my fiance through Canada to try and get to a Border where we could leave the car with an agent and/or leave the car at some hokey car dealer stored until it could be made compliant. Finally we called his bosses boss and complained and he was called and gave us the form we required, which we knew about. Whew!

Best thing is to bring your car to compliancy before crossing. Attach receipts to the manufacturers compliancy letter to prove the work was done. Ensure that the manufacturers letter is an original and not printed from the computer after being sent by email (as was mine, we almost got stuck on that too.) The other thing I did was I drove my other car down before crossing for the Visa and left it there, flew back. We'll bring it to compliancy and my fiance will take a copy of my Visa and drive it over himself and I'll wait on the US side. Nothing they can do for items already in the states.

The other border guards there were very nice though they don't get K-1 Visas there much so it was a bit confusing for them. That part of it went smoothly. Nothing in the truck was searched or questioned, even the food (I am gluten intollerant).

This was Laurier, Wa crossing.
Harassment Level : Moderate

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
