Consulate Review: Bangkok, Thailand
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 17, 2009
Embassy Review : The embassy was in flux this spring, and apparently had stopped issuing interview appointments for about 6 weeks. We finally had the interview scheduled for Jun 29 at 8am. Showed up about 1 hour early. There was some confusion about the file - they could not locate the receipt for fee payment $131, which had been mailed in with the Packet 3 as instructed. They were going to send her out to the post office to get a duplicate receipt of payment, and have her come back another day. However they eventually "found" the missing receipt. After that it went smoothly. Routine questions - how did we meet? when? what was my job? when was I last in Thailand? why had I not visited since? did she know I was divorced, and had children? Visa was approved, and ready for pickup 2 days later on July 1.
Rating : Good

Fingerprints were taken, I-94 was stapled to the passport, reminder to marry within 90 days, then "Welcome to USA". Entirely smooth process.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
