Comments : Sorry I took so long to update this...I have been enjoying having my husband and son HOME here finally! Upon arrival for his interview on 4/2/09, the consulate had misplace our DNA test! I called them from here in the U.S. and they were able to find it and called my husband back in to get his VISA (he was waiting outside the embassy)!

Embassy Review : Ok....here we go....

On my husband's original interview date in October, all went well. The lady that interviewed my husband and son was very kind. However, they requested a DNA test to prove that our son was really my husband's. My husband was told that the interview was over but that he would have to come back in 3 months time for the results of the DNA test. We were able to get the DNA test to them by 11/19/08, so I tried to get our appt moved up but they were unable to do that. When my husband showed up for the appt in February, he was interviewed by a gentleman who told him that unfortunately, they were unable to locate the DNA test and that he would have to come back on 3/18/09 to give them time to get another copy.

I was VERY upset when my husband called to tell me all of this from outside the embassy and I asked him to wait there while I called them. When I spoke to them, they first told me that they were sorry but sometimes things got lost in the mail. I told them that this was unfair as it was not lost in the mail but in their facility. They put me on hold while they tried again to locate the test and then came back on and asked if my husband could stay in Accra and come back on Wednesday to give them time to find it. When I called my husband back to tell him, the consulate officer (the kind woman I spoke to on the phone) called my husband and let him know that they had found the test and he could come back on Wednesday. He told her that that was fine but that he was right outside and could come back in and she said OK! Once inside, he was issued his VISA and welcomed to the U.S.A!!!!!

So, they did make a mistake but with a little 'push' they went above and beyond to make up for it.

My husband and son arrived here on February 13 and we are sooooooooo HAPPY!

ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
