Comments : We arrived in Miami on Saturday, 2008-08-30, and the process of my fianceé visa was horrible. The agent who review the visa first was very nice; however, after he told us to sit down at another room, the whole process was down the hill. I think we stayed there for almost an hour, and in this first room, nobody was processing the K-1 visa. One had to wait for another agent to come by to pick up the visa package. I don't know why the two women sitting there could not communicate to the processing center (yet another room) that there were visas awaiting for processing in the initial room. I am cuban-american, and the women agents (no doubt two cubans) could not do a thing to process the visas quickly. Then, when another agent finally came for the VISAS (there were TWO), we went to a processing center room where we spent more than 4 hours. I don't know if this delay was because it was a Saturday, but I give TWO THUMB DOWN to Miami immigration services. I have a K-2 VISA pending, and this other person will have to come though Miami. This time, he will come during a week day to see if there is an improvement. I will let you know. Notice that all in all it took more than 5 HOURS to have the visa processed!!!

Consulate Review: Bogota, Colombia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 28, 2008
Embassy Review : Very well, we all, the visa beneficiaries, entered the embassy at 6:30 am and everyone at the embassy was very pleasant and nice. It seems as if people with this type of visa were treated much better than others. We started staying in line 3, and then we all got some green stickers. At this point, we were told to go to kind of cubicle.

While waiting in line there, one of the receptionist handed us a folder indicating what order we should place all our documents. Be careful, for the form DS-230 must be there too. One thing here is that the vaccination worksheet are not needed, for it is already in the documents sent by the doctor; however, I was carrying it just in case.

After one and half hour of waiting, people were called to hand out the folder with all the documents in order. By the way, the young woman at the window was not in her best behavior to say the least. Then I was asked to have my fingerprints taken, but it took about half hour before they were actually taken.

Then, the waiting game starte. ....wait, and wait, and see how some people were given their visas while others did not receive theirs. It felt horrible and painful.

At about 11:40 am, I was called by a consul at window number 5. She was very nice, and then she asked me:

Is your fiance with you? I told her that he was not present because he was busy at work in the States. I was hoping that she did not ask me to make him come, for he is really very busy man.

Then she asked some questions. How do you meet him? How many times has he come to Colombia? Which dates did he visit you?

Then, I asked her for the visa K-2 for my son, and I was told that I should hurry to start his visa. Then I was handed a packet 3 for the K-2 visa for may son who will follow to join us some time next year. Then, the interviewer asked me to see some evidence like photos and so.

At this point, my visa was approved, and I just paid for a home delivery service on my way out. All in all, the actual visa interview took no more than 5 minutes.

In the end, it was all fine, and my finacée is all happy.

P.S. This is a translation of my fiancée wrote in the Spanish forum.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
