Comments : Our experience was pretty identical to others in Argentina. I joined my fiance at the embassy. We arrived early at the embassy and followed the advice to go to the window first before the line. We were given a number for which window we should go to after security and told to stand in the line. Once the embassy opened up for (I assume), the afternoon interviews, we went through security and then to the first window. The first embassy officer was friendly, just took fingerprints and asked a few questions and then we were moved to another area to wait for the interview. We went into that building and received a green envelop to place all the additional evidence into (it had a checklist on the front).

We were then called to the first room where a lady checked all of our paperwork and asked for any additional information they didn't have/needed. Some of the documents they didn't even ask for. They did ask for my W2s over my Tax Transcripts since they were easier to read. She informed us that potentially the photo submitted would be rejected due to shadows on the background, but to confirm if we needed another passport photo in the interview with the actual Officer. She also asked if we had made any travel arrangements for returning to the U.S. We answered honestly and said yes, and gave her the date but informed her that the travel was tentative and we could make adjustments to it, if needed. She jotted down the date, but didn't express any concerns. I asked if I was going to be allowed to attend the actual interview and she said,"yes, thank you for coming, it's highly encouraged that the fiance comes and you can be in the interview too!"

We then waited to be called into our interview. There was another K1 couple in there, the guy was the USC and the girl was the Argentinian fiance. They went first and both were allowed to attend the interview. When we were called for my fiance's interview after this couple, the officer asked that I remain out of the interview room (I'm female/USC and my fiance is male/Argentinian). This was a little odd to me since we just watched a couple go together and I was told I could go in with him.

The interview went well though. The officer asked my fiance some basic questions about us/him: how/when we met, what he planned to do for work and then a lot of questions about my previous marriage/K1 filing: did he know about it, who was it with, was that person still in the U.S., did that person ever receive their greencard, etc. My fiance had no problem answering the questions because he knew all about it, but he did say he felt more like he got questioned about my ex/previous K1 and divorce than actual questions about us. The officer said he was approved after that!

A few days later (10/15), we received a phone call from the embassy informing us that they lost our passport photo though. They informed us if we could bring the photo up that day, they would go ahead and give us Visa. So we took another passport photo up to the embassy. This time, only my fiance was allowed to go in and drop off the photo (I remained outside). He came back with his Visa/passport all in hand!

At POE: We didn't have any issues. We went through Houston airport, and went together to the Visa line. They cleared me and asked for my fiance to go to secondary to check his paperwork. They informed me I could either go down to baggage claim or just stand waiting around. After about 25 minutes, my fiance was cleared - no issues. They did ask him a few more questions about us: where we met, when the wedding was, what he was going to do for a living.

Comments : Received RFE regarding Acta de Nacimiento. Electronic alert on 2/18 and official letter with information about the RFE received in mail on 2/21. It asked for us to provide the Acta de Nacimiento and English translation (which we had included in our original petition). We resent another copy of the Acta + translation on 2/24 and received electronic receipt of RFE getting our response on 2/26. We received an update for "interview ready to be scheduled" on 4/30. Received electronic notice (email) that Interview had been scheduled on 3/18 and received official letter in the mail on 3/25 with interview date for 4/23/2021.

I don't think our interview lasted more than 5-10 minutes... we were both a little confused leaving, but not going to complain. We brought all the documents and had basically two big folders with us and a photo album.

The interviewer asked for my (USC) driver's license and my husband's passport and driver's license. He asked how my husband entered the country, if he complied with the K-1, and his last date of entry. He asked him when we got married and to see our marriage certificate. He asked if I was a U.S. citizen and then what joint assets we had together. We listed off a few things like joint bank account, credit cards, etc. and said we brought documents of other items like Sam's club membership, being users on my mom's phone bill, etc. He did not ask to see any other documents outside our IDs and the Marriage Certificate.

Then he took my husband's finger prints and photo. Said he was doing a background check on us both. And then he was like "ok, you're done, you're approved."

We received an email and case status updated on 4/23/2021 that evening saying that "Interview was completed and my case must be reviewed."

On Friday, April 30, we received a call from the Officer informing us that my husband needed to return because his form wasn't signed. This was a bit odd because we have a copy of our original packet sent in and he definitely signed it. The Officer said that it could have been an error on their side where someone didn't put everything back in the right order. So he had to go through the "yes or no" questions on the i-485 form again, and ask my husband a few more repeating questions from the interview (when did you get married?). After that, he said he was officially approved and that my husband should receive his green card in 2-3 weeks. A few hours later we received and email and our case status officially updated to "new card being produced."

Officially received Green Card in the mail on 5/06/21!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
