Embassy Review : Our experience with the American Embassy in Oslo was great! Throughout the process everyone was very helpful!

They only conduct interview on Wednesdays. Ours was scheduled for 9:00. We showed up at 8:15 to go through security. At 8:40ish I was called to a window and asked to sumbit all the paperwork, photos and to pay the fee. They only accept CASH, kroner or USD. After we submitted all the docs, we waited another ten minutes. I was asked to fill out another affidavit of support (I'd filled out the wrong form).

Our interview was very short, less than 10 minutes. We stood together in the waiting area and answered questions asked an American woman behind a glass counter. She smiled, laughed and even joked with us. The questions were about where we'd met, what we were doing in Norway, what we would do in the States, ect. She took notes in the computer but seemed like she was trying to get to know "our story".

The K3 process moved quickly! It took less than 1 month from the date we filed to the date we were approved! We did a lot of work on our end to be ready with the medical, gathering docs, ect. before the interview was scheduled.

Our petition was approved. They said they could have it ready for us that day but I am going to pick it up on Friday. (Two days later). You also have the option to have it mailed but we didn't feel comfortable with this option.

The Embassy in Norway does things their own way and move FAST!

POE Review: Chicago
Event Description
Entry Date : 2007-06-14
Embassy Review : My husband and I went through the same line at passport control. We handed the man our immigration folder. He was talking to other workers about the Cubs game and was not paying attention at all. He asked us a few questions such as "When were you married?" and made the comment "That was quick". He told us where to go next. We gathered our suitcases and were directed to an open waiting area. My husband and I both took a seat after we handed in our folder to a man sitting at a desk. One by one he opended the paperwork and called people to the front. We got the stamp in his passport and were on our way. I think we waited less than 45 minutes. As informed, we got the actual green card in the mail however his name was mispelled. We had to mail it back and were told we would have to wait up to six months! Oh well... he can work and live here!
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
