They rescheduled my interview from 12 June to 20 June, presumably because President Trump will be in town on 12 June for the summit with Kim Jong Un...

Event Description
Review Date : June 20, 2018
Embassy Review : My appointment was scheduled on 20 June 2018, 2.15PM in Singapore. I got there very early, at around 1.30PM. I was directed by the guard to sit at the tent area, where a young man and his mom, and another gentleman, were already waiting. They were called in by the guard about 5 minutes later, and I was called in shortly after. I was asked to put my bags through the scanner, stepped through the metal detector, and asked to surrender my phone, charging cable and charging plug. Given a number tag. Made my way in and was directed to the first room on the left and asked to sit and wait. The young man and his mom were called first to window 7 to submit their documents. They took a long time because they didn't have photos of the right size, and they didn't have the original copy of some document. There is a photo booth in the room. $10 for 2 pieces of 2 by 2 photos. So they got that sorted out. The gentleman was then called to window 7 and he took an even longer time because he had issues with his birth certificate. When it came to my turn, the Singaporean man behind window 7 took my passport and asked if I have arranged my documents in the order listed in the email. I had, so I just passed him 4 items: my original birth certificate, my original marriage certificate, my original interim and final divorce decree, and my police certificate. He double checked them against the scanned copies already in the file and asked if I have any children. He didn't take the photocopies I had brought, and he returned the interim divorce decree to me. Then he took a bit of time to look through the financial documents my husband had sent the NVC, returned me the old IRS transcripts, and then at that point, found out I am a teacher! So he chatted with me about that, told me that he tried teaching for a bit, and asked if I was just dropping everything at work and moving. Then he asked if I have registered with the courier service to receive my passport back. After that he gave me a blank submission of documents form, in case the CO wanted anything, and a handout on domestic violence and asked me to read it carefully and ask the CO any questions. I was soon called to window 8, where the CO, an Asian lady, interviewed me. Since window 8 was just beside window 7, there was no privacy at all and everyone waiting could hear what was going on. She asked me how I met my husband (the story went back to 1999 and that got interesting), what was the first thing I said to him when I met him in person, whether I have children from my first marriage, what my husband works as, when and where we got married, and whether we have met since the marriage. Then she told me all my documents were complete and I can expect my visa in 2 weeks. I was out of the embassy by 2.45PM!

Event Description
Review Date : April 22, 2021
Embassy Review : We had our interview on 21 April 2021. We arrived 30 minutes early to look for a parking spot. If you don't mind paid parking, there is a big parking garage right across the street, with numerous metered street parking spots. If you drive a block or two away, you will be able to find some free parking spots. We had to return to our car before we even got through security as we had pepper spray with us, so make sure you don't have anything that can be used as a weapon (nail clippers included) before you enter the building. We were directed to go to level 2 and handed our interview appointment letter to the officer at the door. Then we sat at the waiting area and within a few minutes, we were called into an interview room by the interviewing officer. I was first asked for our IDs and passports (I brought both mine and my USC spouse's) and then asked to hand over new pieces of evidence. I presented updated federal and state tax transcripts, updated bank transcript, proof of new joint car ownership, proof of joint auto loan, new property tax notice, a couple of letters to show joint application for auto loan, insurance papers showing each other as beneficiaries. I offered new photos but was told they will be looked at at the end. I was asked to talk about how we met, my spouse was asked if I missed out anything, we were asked the colour of our house, the number of bathrooms it has, if we had any kids. He saw our masks and asked if we have a dog and we talked about our dog and our dog foster work. Then I presented the new photos and we chatted about dogs (most of the photos were our small road trips with our dog). Then I was handed a letter to say that the case is under review and to expect a response within 24 hours. I was asked if I have an online account with USCIS, which I did. 30 minutes later, I got an email to say that the new card is being produced. It was an easy process and the interviewer was very friendly and professional.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
