Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 31, 2017
Embassy Review : For this interview appointment there was myself (petitioner), my fiancee and her daughter and son. Interview was time was 0900 on October 25. We arrived at the embassy at 0830, and there was no one out front - we expected to see a line. So we asked a guard where to go because there are 3 guard shacks along the embassy building. When you face the embassy from Bolshoy Devyatinsky Lane you will enter on the far right side of the embassy building.

We went through security, and then checked in for the interview. The staff asked for a copy of the appointment confirmation letter and international passports. They checked the passports and confirmation letter against the DS-160's they had on file. For K1 interviews at the US embassy in Moscow, the petitioner is allowed to attend the interview and their name is on the interview list - so you do not need to call the embassy to add your name to the list to enter the embassy.

Note: before you go to interview, make sure the bar code number for the DS-160 matches the number you enter on the US Travel Docs web site - the letter O and number zero look the same.

After they verified the passports, confirmation letter and DS-160's, they gave us a large green card for "immigration visa appointment" and a number. We sat in the main waiting room for about 30 minutes. There were about 10 other people waiting here. It appeared that everyone was waiting for immigration visa interviews because they all had the same green cards we had.

They call people in groups to go upstairs to another very small waiting room. In this room, they will call you up to a window and you will present your documents - copies of DS-160's, 2 passport style photos, international passports, copy of passports, birth certificates, copies of birth certificates, police reports and they asked for I-134 affidavit of support and my 2016 tax returns. I also had translations for the police reports and birth certificates.

Some of the other people there did not have all there documents - so make sure you have all your documents! Everything is listed here - https://ru.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

After they reviewed and filed our documents, we went to another room and waited for about 10 minutes. They called my fiancee's name, and we went into the interview room. The staff member conducting the interview sits behind a window. He was a very nice man. He introduced himself and asked my fiancee if it was OK to do the interview in English. Questions he asked: tell me the story of your relationship, when and where did you meet, how many times, he asked for pictures from visits, he asked me where I worked. That's it. The interview was about 5 minutes - and then he said everything was good and the visa's were approved.

All the staff was very nice and professional. Great experience.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
