Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 9, 2017
Embassy Review : Thanks to tips from this site, I was staying in the hotel nearby and had my morning coffee next door Starbucks - as the system had surely changed so that you are only allowed in very close to your interview time. Mine was at 9:30 and I was told to come to the door at 9:15 (sharp). Security is no big deal, like airport security and suggest that take the smallest possible bag for you papers as they seriously do not allow big bags inside. Elevator sure is slow ---, but then everything happened quickly, window 1 before I even sat down, then the other window for interview, that's it. Done in less than an hour. Surprise effect: friendly lady at window one who collected my original documents asked for divorce papers of my American husband - those had not been asked, copied or sent any time before the process ! Luckily I had original divorce degree in same folder with my original marriage certificate, lazy me took the whole folder to interview not just the marriage certificate that was asked. Visa package came in 4 days after interview.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
