Consulate Review: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 1, 2016
Embassy Review : Erik (my fiance) and I went to the consulate with full knowledge that I would wait outside.

Our appointment was at 13:30. We got in line at 12:34. At 12:52 we reached the front of the line and Erik went in through the heavy glass door. Once inside, they reviewed his papers but then could not find his name on the list and sent him outside to wait. After waiting outside until 13:15, the group of immigrant visa interviewees was invited back inside. At this point, they reviewed papers again and scolded Erik for having "the list." Apparently, when reviewing his papers, the guard placed the list in with Erik's papers. A second guard questioned Erik about where he got the list and why he had it. Erik didn't want to cause any trouble by naming the specific guard but in the end did point out the one who made the mistake. After that, everything went pretty much as explained in the prior posts. Erik was the first one in line but a sneaky guy moved his way to the front. In the end, Erik came out at about 14:45, with a huge smile. The questions were typical but Erik also got a few special questions because he and I started dating before my divorce was final. He was also caught a bit off guard when the interviewer asked him how he proposed because we just sort of decided to get married. There was no moment on a knee or anything like that. But, he answered honestly and everything worked out fine. I'm 100% sure the honesty is what matters.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
