Port of Entry : JFK
POE Date : 2016-09-23
Got EAD Stamp : Yes,Passport Stamp
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : POE was JFK, terminal 5 with JetBlue. We were the only flight arrival @ 7pm. We had about 15 people in front of us and about 60 behind us. about 15 minutes to get to the Officers booth. I stayed with my k1 fiance and k2 son on the visitors line btw. We advised that we were activating the k1 visa. He first booked my and two young boys US passports than he stamped up the Colombian passports and started entering pertinent info. Then the trip to the processing room. Less than ten minutes, and that was that. Fast, efficient and courteous. Got home, checked for i94 online and it was there and ready for printing.

Consulate Review: Bogota, Colombia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 14, 2016
Embassy Review : We had a 9am appointment, we left the hotel early but a car accident slowed us down but we arrived at 830. We were sent passed the tourist visa line and were given a small piece of paper to organize all of our documents in a particular order. Please note that the order is different than we learned online. Its not a huge difference but dont just assume the order and ensure you have 2 photos with name marked on the back of each. We then went to the next station where we were checked off a list of the fiancee and k2 child beneficiary. WE got a number (32) and waited to visit a pre-interview (920 am)window where the documents are ensured that they are in the required order, answer a few minor questions. Forms and documents returned to us and sent to the interview row of green windows (we had number 3). We waited about 45 min to an hour more until they called us. Professional young Counselor Officer. Reviewed the docs, a couple of times, entered some info into computer, and asked following questions

1) Where is your fiance is from,
2) What does your fiance do,
3) Where does your fiance live now (we live together last 3 years in Colombia)
4) What is your fiancee full name,
5) How many years did he live in Colombia,
6) What is my 11 year sons full name,
7) What is his birth date,
8) Does her have contact with his biological father.. checked Birth Certificate and saw there is no registered father on it so question went away,
9) Do our children together have US passports (yes), where are they now,
10) Do you have wedding plans and when (then said we have 90 days to get married),
11) Are you a criminal.

Probably 6 minutes of questions and 15 or 20 minutes waiting him to do his processing.

Then he said felicitaciones you are approved and read the what my rights are for immigrants.

About thirty minutes in total.. Very professional and all in Spanish. In the taxi at 1030 ish.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
