Consulate Review: Guayaquil, Ecuador
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 12, 2015
Embassy Review : We got to the Consulate around 6:30am for a 7:40am appointment. There was already a line but I recommend getting there early so that you are relaxed. Plus, there's no traffic that early so the commute is stress free. We went through security, very thorough, then were escorted through a few hallways, received a number, then entered a building toward the back of the compound. Everyone was very friendly and helped us out because, like 90% of the people there, were there for the first time. We sat in the green seats and waited till about 9:00am. We went to a window where they very took out our case, asked for I 134 affidavit of support with job letter, copy of the DS160, the Ecuadorian birth certificate, and the medical envelope but not the CD, you can't bring the CD in the building. We offered more but he said that we had enough. He asked about the year we met and what are civil status was, single obviously. This was done in Spanish as he was simply preparing the case for the American who was in charge. We sat back down and waited about ten minutes for the gray, steely-haired man called our name.

He asked what language we spoke. We said both. He was a little taken aback but we ended up speaking in English. He asked us how we met, and I told him our story. That was pretty much the only thing he asked. After that he was more interested in the fact I played baseball and will study at Wharton. Not sure if our case was super rocke solid or what but it seemed like more of a formality than anything. Then he said happy day, your visa has been approved. Overall, an incredible experience. The other interviews seemed to go well as well and I think that if you have a very well prepared case, you will be fine.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
