Embassy Review : Our AOS Interview Experience

OUR Interview was at 11:45, we got there 11:20 got a parking place right of hand.We went in and had to go up to the 10th floor ( in Indianapolis ).
we went thru Airport like Security check and was advised to go to the Registration Desk. There was a tall Dark stern Officer whom took my interview Letter and told me to be seated . So we sat there and watched all other people waiting and coming in, there were a bunch. My Husband said Look there is a sign that says no cell phones or food/Drink allowed in the waiting area, but guess what at least 10 out of ruffly 40 were on their cell phones and one was eating donuts and drinking water, unreal no Respect.. Anyways we waited about 20 minutes then an officer in her 40`s came out and called my name. We both stood up and she said I need to see Andrea for now, I will get to you when we get done ( talking to my Husband ) . so she escorted me to her office and told me to lay my things down and stay standing up, she introduced herself as Offer Guess and then she swore me in and advised of being video taped. First she asked me if I had any extra bills that I wanted to give her, and we talked about my lease agreement, hence it was refinanced, I gave her the recent utility bill, cable bill, and she asked if she could keep those. I said sure. Then she asked about extra pictures, we didn't have many pictures but I gave her the ones I had and said there is a few extras and explained to her that my husband doesn't like to be on pictures and she kinda chuckled. She asked me when each pictures was taken and where it was. Then she said go ahead and give me your husbands birth certificate and your birth certificate and I told her I had copy of those if she needs them. The she said now I am going to get your Husband and asked me not to interrupt while she is talking to him, when she gets done talking to him she will ask more questions of both of us, on the way out she also said don't forget you are still being taped and giggled. So her and my Husband came back, she told him to stay standing and to raise his right hand.. and she started chuckling and rolling her eyes in a funny way because my husband kept his left hand in his pants pocket. We all started laughing and she said only us citizens usually don't know what to do..lol. then she swore him in. she asked his name, where he lives, his birthday, if he was married before, where we met , when was it and he couldn't remember and she asked me what year was it and I told her, then she turned back to him and asked, what his ex wife's name is, when we got married, and he hesitated and she started chuckling saying come on Micheal , you don't know the date when you got married, laughing. She tried to help him out by saying the month and he finished with the wrong date, she still excepted it, he still trying to figure the date out and he ended up saying the right date at the end... funny. She asked him if I ever had a green-card before and then she turned to me and asked my name, where I live, where I was originally from and I told her Germany, she started uhing and awing and said I love Germany , its a beautiful Country and I love the food and the beer...lol, my husband jumped in and said he loves schnitzels and lol she was rubbing her belly , hence it was lunchtime. My husband asked her if she has been to the Heidelberg Cafe here in town and she was all surprised that there was a German restaurant and wanted to know the name and where it was at, she wrote it all down. Then she asked me if I was married before, when I was divorced, what visa I came over with, and I told her vwp visa and explained to her that it was quicker and easier to get a vwp to visit , nothing was ever said about my overstay, she said you had a green card before, why did you abandoned it, I said I don't really know , she interrupted me and said this is a form you need to fill out after we get done and she told me what to put down for the reason to the abandonment, she then said now we are going to the bad questions ( NO/YES Questions on the I-485 ) like if I ever had weapon training, terrorism aso. And that was basically it, she said I will get my green card between 2-3 weeks and if I had any questions, at first I said no and then I said, do you still want my medical exam, she said oh I am glad you said that I have forgotten all about it, I would have to call you back. So she took it and said anymore questions , I asked her if I would get a stamp in my passport and she said do you have plans to go anywhere yet?, I said no but was thinking about surprising my mom over x-mas, she said unless you already have a ticket I cant give you a stamp, but you will get your card in a couple of weeks. I said ok then she said well we are done and again asked me if I had anymore questions, I said no and she reminded me to fill out the form she gave me , she let me sit in a cubby In the waiting room to fill out the form, and told me when I am done to just give it to one of the other officers and if I had any questions about the form to tell the other officer to get me. and she said congratulations, I said thank you. And filled out my form ( I-407 ) gave it to one of the other officers and in return I got a letter stating that I was recommended for approval.

That was it ,we got to the truck and I checked the time, it was 12:59. So we were in there for ruffly an hour. It was all good. Our officer made us both so comfortable. She was straight to the point, fair, funny and Professional. I forgot to mention, that my officer at the interview admitted to us that she watched us in the waiting room for 20 minutes, and asked us if we didn't see her. i didn't see her , my husband said to me later that he did see her walking passed once, but he didn't know that was going to be the officer whom conducted the interview.

We had a very Pleasant Interview

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
