Consulate Review: Egypt
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 26, 2015
Embassy Review : So, i was prepared that to go to the embassy and to have my interview. I was confident and i was optimistic. I arrived at 6:45AM and we were waiting on the side in front of the Embassy and at 7AM they asked us to form two lines, one for immigration and the other one for non-immigration. I was the first one in the Line yaay lol, Anyway the security asked to see my appointment letter and my Aramex paper, then i went inside the Embassy and took a number and waited for my turn. My number got called and it was this Egyptian girl asking me about some original papers like Original Marriage cert, Military cert, Medical report. Then she took my finger prints then asked me where and when did i meet my wife and for how long have we been married, for a second i was like is this the interview? LOL. She then told me to wait again until they call my name. Waited for a little bit more than one hour then my number was called and it was window 15. American consul asked me about my work and what i do, then asked me about my wife, general questions like for how long have we been married, how many times she came to egypt, for how long have she stayed here and whether we have kids or not. At the end he told me i was approved and i should get my VISA in 1 week only. Went back home and next day case showed Administrative Processing, i was like oh well i saw that coming anyway but the next day status changed to issued and two days later i called Aramex and i picked up my passport and the sealed yellow package.

Overall rating:
Embassy 5/5
Interview 5/5
Waiting time & Processing 5/5

Bare in mind that sometimes it could take more than 1 week for the visa to be issued, some people will be under Administrative Processing for 1 to 8 weeks.

General notes before interview
1) Administrative Processing doesn't always mean a bad thing. In my case it meant that someone is working on my case right now getting my visa issued. If your case been under AP for a long time, it could mean that they ran out of visas and you are in line waiting for your but it mostly happens with Lottery people (I AM NOT SURE, I AM JUST GUESSING)
2) Don't worry everything will be find, You should however be worried if you are going to lie in the interview.
3) Be organized with your papers and this is VERY IMPORTANT. When answering questions always provide documents supporting your answer.
4) Wear a suit if you are guy, This is important as it shows how serious are you about this interview.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
