Consulate Review: Cambodia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 2, 2015
Embassy Review : Basically tough to Prove love to the CO. I know they are trained and such to deal with and keep the fraudulent folks from passing and exploiting the system.

Somphos and I have known each other since 2010, We have evidence that proves we were in contact and spoken since 2011 when we decided to add each other to facebook since Skype was no longer great since she was leaving school and would be in her village from then on so video chatting when she had free time when i was actually not sleeping was almost a rare occasion but I suppose that had made us more fond of each other. We decided before even meeting that we wanted to be together, we get along so well, and even better in person when alone and having so many interactions together in many different situations some requiring critical thought and some asking for humor . The red Flags that are understandable were that her cousin had introduced us as pen/pal english mentorship sort of deal. Instead of concentrating on that... we more of concentrated on each other and understanding each other the best we could. There's 2 red flags there, but should be carefully considered when adjudicating rather than flat out assuming then accusing us of something completely untrue just because the person adjudicating the case has a wild imagination in "connecting the dots" sure anyone could assume things seem what they are not.
The fact we decided to become engaged on our first meeting was predetermined and something we wished for for about 2 years prior to the actual engagement. Her cousin was the only one that knew we had known each other, BUT was unaware of the relationship, and I was unaware she was her cousin because she was not introduced as such at the time of our first conversation. Later I found out she was her cousin because she had asked me "are you being nice to my little cousin?" hahaha then i was surprised, but even happier because this family has always been there for me, and I admire them and their strengths, they accept me as one of their own family members since they have known me at the age of 9 years old. They were shocked i flat out asked for their help in proposing the engagement to her and communicating the wishes to her family for their blessings. It's been a tough and long ride, but hey... if you love someone... you never give up on them, even if things between you and them are not so smooth... patience and willpower are your tools to achieve the dream and result you wish for... giving up is like starting a painting without finishing it... like... a lake without a reflection... and both need to be there 100% otherwise it just seems like it will always be missing something. Love the person you care for now unconditionally becuase you never know when you will be able to make them smile again... see them, and hold their hand.

Though this is a black listed country, i can understand their stance. They just need to take at least a little bit more time and to be a bit more considerate to us petitioners that actually fly to attend the interview. I was told to sit down and we were denied within minutes without asking for any details about anything. Just simple questions (which were answered correctly by the way) that were said to have been different from what I had said... when I want asked anything except how we met, where she will live as soon as she comes to the U.S. and then, i was told to take a seat, she was asked the same questions but in Khmer, the questions were so simple I could understand what they were asking and what her answer's were. why they made statements that they did, is beyond me. Though, it really could have just been a bad day... who knows, anyways.

I'm returning for a second interview, I hope they will let me stand with my fiancee this time. How else can i support her and keep her from being too nervous at the window? she is a country girl and pretty shy. doesn't deal well with stress or situations where she is pushed into a corner. Couching her to relax and just answer things is a bit tough, especially some of the small things we dont know about each other, like say....you ask something about our "favorite" food or sweet... or color, we have multiple answers, that is a huge one with food too because we love and have many favorites, if you put them all on a table, we seriously couldn't decide but would be trying to shove each others favorites down each others throats just to see if we like the same exact foods.
it's hard to show this kind of interaction to them... We're shy goofballs... sometimes we're both in our own world together not paying attention to people around us haha... but she is very short spoken as i am long winded. ... Opposites attract ladies and gentlemen... this is another thing Consulate should take into account.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
