Embassy Review : The Vancouver consulate was pretty good to us. We got our visa! It was a very anitclimactic experience. After waiting so long it seemed like such a simple process. We walked to the embassy the day before and it is a bit hard to spot if you don't know the exact address. We were looking for U.S. flags and all that jazz lol. Basically it's just a tiny door in the SIDE of the building. The security was nerve wracking. You should definitely bring the minimum amount of stuff. Don't bring anything like electronics or large bags or anything that is on your interview letter. They will not hold it for you at the door. Once again as others have observed, the lack of restrooms where you have to wait is not convenient, especially when nervous. Avoid drinking fluids the morning before. The guard saw our interview letter and took us to some seats in a hall thing off to the side of everyone else waiting for other things. I was surprised that we didn't even go into a private room for the interview. We heard the two people who had the same interview time and what they were going through. I would have rather not have heard it. We were sitting less than 3 feet right behind the window they were at. It seems that as long as you have everything on the checklist that it is easy as pie. The man who interviewed us was very easy going (our interview was at a window). He barely asked us anything and John wasn't through answering a question and he just closed the file and said come back at 2 to get your visa. We just kind of looked at each other and got out of there before he changed his mind. lol. All in all it was pretty easy. Bring an umbrella. thankfully our hotel provided us with one because it rained almost the entire 4 days we were there. We stayed at the Westin Bayshore. It was a very nice hotel and we got a really good deal through Hotwire. It is an easy walk to the embassy.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
