Embassy Review : My fiance and I met October 2012 online. We really hit it off. We can finish each other's thoughts and found out that we had a lot in common. I was able to visit him around the 1st of June 2013. I have kids and was unable to make multiple trips or stay very long. My trip was a total of 9 days. He officially proposed while I was there. Over the time since we met til we actually filed for K1 and after, we talked every day. He met my kids and family via video chat. Of course, we had all of that as well as my trip to Morocco as evidence.

We filed for the K1, September 2013. Noureddine had his interview at the Embassy on December 16. We had our hearts set to get the visa the same day, but it didn't happen that way. He left the Embassy heartbroken. They, of course, didn't tell him if he was approved or not. They gave him his passport back and said we will call you. That was it. Noureddine wasn't feeling very positive about the interview. He said it lasted like 5 mins and that was all. (It was probably a little longer) They had a bit of trouble communicating in English so they got a translator. I am not sure what all he was asked, but you know using a translator always takes the emotion out of your answers. He was able to answer all the questions though.

I emailed the Embassy the same day, to try to learn something more about our case. Of course, all the reply said was it is in AP and no they could not say how long it would be. I called the NVC for a status update and emailed the Embassy again in the almost 2 weeks that followed. AP is all that was replied. Not sure if any of my emails or my call helped our case.

Finally, the day after Christmas on the 26th of December they called my fiance and told him to bring his passport back to the Embassy on the following Monday. At that time they told him again they will call.
Luckily, they didn't make us wait too long. He got the call the next day (December 31st) to pick up his passport and visa on Thursday, January the 2nd. So, YAY!!!!

I know in the big picture, we were very lucky and very blessed that it didn't take any longer than it did. It was a roller coaster ride of emotions, but so very worth it.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
