Comments : Showed up on time. The officer videotaped interview. The officer said that normally he does not allow petitoners to interpret but since the case was approved (not sure what that means) he'll let us do it to minimize effort. R mostly answered the questions in English. He first swore us in, then requested identification. I produced my passport, he also wanted to see my drivers license. R showed her advanced parole card, her passport. The officer wanted to see her birth certificate. We forgot to bring it but he was okay with a notarized copy and translation that we did bring. Asked the standard "are you a terrorist" questions. Then asked questions I would call "to verify bona finde relationship": were were you born? what is the name of your mother? Asked me what my father-in-law's name was. Asked R whether she had any prior children. She said no, but then I mentioned that R is 3 months pregnant. The officer wrote it all down, including th due date. He then took all the documents we brought with us: photocopy of credit cards for the same account (asked to show the original), joint bank account statements, joint tax returns, health and dental insurance records. When looking at tax return, asked about the name of the person on the return (I claim my daughter from prior marriage). The officer said that he would contact us if her has any further questions. Said that he has 60 days to make the decision, but said that he "will go over everthing with a fine-tooth comb" and make a decision earlier.

Overall the interview was short. The officer was polite and even jocular.

Consulate Review: Moscow, Russia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 29, 2013
Embassy Review : This is from R's account of the interview. R went in there among 100 people for the same purpose. She went 8th. First,Russian employees checked all the documents. Then, an American officer conducted the interview. They took all the documentation R brought. The English translations of the Russian documents (although stated as needed on the embassy website) weren't necessary. The interview was conducted in Russian. The questions were directed at establishing the authenticity of the relationship. R was asked when and how we first met, what we have in common. What my cellphone number is (she was able to recite it from memory). Where and when I was born. The officer liked the pictures R brought. Was impressed that we went on a European vacation together. Noted that I went to see R multiple times. Checked that R went to the US twice. Noted the engagement ring on R's finger. Asked R what she would do first when she goes to the US. When R asked to clarify as to what he meant, he asked R when she is planning to get married. R said that we are planning to get married right away. And that was a satisfactory answer. R says that the officer was pleasant and sympathetic.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
