Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 5, 2013
Embassy Review : I was very nervous despite everyone on here saying how easy it was. I was most worried about the I-134 because we needed a co-sponsor. And that was the last of the paperwork I knew they had to go over. But I was nervous for nothing!
If you are prepared (and you are because you are reading this), you should be in and out of the consulate in an hour.

I stood in line (first one) at 6:40. One other person was there. He had a bag and electronics and I warned him to take those back to his room or leave them somewhere (he did). By the time the doors opened at 7:30, there were only 7 of us in line (included a family of 4). Search Saylin's map of the consulate and it's exactly as drawn. The first of us 3 knew all about the elevator and where to go once you are off the elevator so I got the C1 (but was called 2nd) and for my interview, I was called in 3rd.

Just have your papers ready, it will make it go quick. The interview is where my nerves shot up! Typical questions but he did ask about our age difference which threw me off a little bit and I was denied at the border last year for entry so I was questioned about that. After all that was said and done, APPROVED!

If you were as prepared as I was, everything will be fine. It's worth the wait in line even if it's freezing outside. I was first and it still took some time. (6:40-9am). When I left my interview, the room was full of people and outside the consulate, there were about 20-30 people waiting. So get there early!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
