Consulate Review: Peru
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 19, 2011
Embassy Review : My interview was scheduled at 8:45am, I got there 7:20 am and there was already a long line with atleast 70 persons.
I waited in the line about 15 minutes and got inside to the embassy to the next line, that took like 10 more minuts, then we went to the inmigrant visa area and waited approximately 30 minutes, after that they called me and asked me for the DS156 forms and the photos, they give me a green paper where was K1 marked to pay the $350, but there was a paper in the cashier where it said that they would start working at 9am so I waited, then they called me in the window 12, there was a lady very serious, who asked me for my birth certificate, the criminal records, and the affidavit of support, asked me how I met my fiance, how many times had he come and if I have been married before, then I answered to that, and then she asked me if I had more pics ( sha had in hand the ones my fiance sent in the petition) I gave her about 45 more pics, she told me to sit down and that they would call me again.
After about 20 minuts, they called me from the room 15, where the consul was, he started looking at the pics, I commented about some of them, then he asked me is XXXX your fiance? so I said yes, and he asked me how did you two meet? and i told him and told him the whooooooole story... I talk very much and more when I am nervous so I couldnt help myself and told him everything, he was smiling and very nice. The 80% of the interview was in english. Then he told me that they had to take my fingerprints and that I had to pay...
More suspense...
I waited to be called to the window 12 again, they called me and the lady told me... but you have to pay! jaja... I forgot that, so I went and paid the $350 and waited again to be called in window 12.
More suspense...
Then she called me and took my fingerprints and received my voucher to have paid, and told me to wait to be called again.
More suspense...
Then the consul called me and went to the room 15.
He asked me if I have been in other countries and if I have ever been in the US, I told him yes, in this and that, and no, never in the US.
Then he took other fingerprint and told me
Well...(suspense and i was like WHAAAT!!!!) and he told me your visa has been approved! have a good life in the US! and gave me a paper to track my passport and pick it up from DHL when its there.

I am SOOOOOOOO happy!!! the waiting kills but its all worthwhile!!! Good experience, alot of suspense...
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Newark
Event Description
Entry Date : 2011-12-30
Embassy Review : I enter by Newark airport at approximately 3:00pm, Got off from the plane and there were a line for permanent residents and citizens, and other for visitors and conditional residents, I was obviously in that one, there were close of 100 people before me in the line, when it was my turn they sent me to the window 34, there were an official that had my same last name and made a joke with that, very nice and kind, then saw that it was a K1, asked me if I was already married or engaged, I answer engaged, then asked me if my fiance had come to pick me up, I said, Yes! he must be by there! and then he asked me if I had the medical packet, he just asked for the close envelope - that by the way didnt have any hole - then he took me to other place where they told me to sit down and wait, he told every official on our way there, its a k1! as a big deal jajaja, but in a good way, then when they finished reviewing my docs, other official called me, this was a cuban official, he told me, well you know you have to get married if not, then you have to leave and if you dont leave then we will go and look for you that simple, so I laughted because i didnt expect from him to be so rude, and he kept serious and told me, its serious. So I said oook, then he told me ok, bye. This Cuban guy was mean, but it was easy and the other officials were very nice Hope this is helpful!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
