Comments : Classic stoic, non-friendly initial immigration officer in the booth with typical suspicious questioning, but then passed onto others to handle paperwork who were much friendlier and more welcoming. Low level of harassment overall.

Local US CIS Office Review: Helena MT
Review Topic: cis_topic
Event Description
Review Date : October 26, 2013
Embassy Review : Due to late mail we received the biometric appointment notification from USCIS 1 day after the assigned appointment date (USCIS set an appointment within 2 weeks of mailing the notice to us). Rather than mailing a snail-mail request for another biometrics appointment which could take weeks to process, we took a chance and drove nearly 4 hours to arrive at 8am at the Helena office. The people in the office were really friendly and understanding, and despite missing our original appointment by 2 days, they completed the biometrics in less than 20 minutes.

By the way, they indicated that they occasionally processed other "walk-ins" from other states who happen to be passing through Montana. Also they said they have processed biometrics for people as much as 1 week earlier than their assigned appointment. People working here were nice and friendly and appeared to have no issues with walk-ins. Also they told me that sometimes they can get busy with as many as 20 people a day, or as quiet as 2 a day, but usually it's just a few day depending on the services provided.

In summary, for biometrics they take walk-ins, and are friendly.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
