Consulate Review: Dublin, Ireland
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 17, 2014
Embassy Review : My appointment was at 1pm. I did not know that part of Dublin well and took a wrong turn! Parking is not easy to find when under a time constraint. I eventually parked in the Royal Dublin Society car park.

I got through security OK and the security guy was very friendly - they saw I was a bit flustered. Leave your phone in the car and expect to hand over everything except the paperwork and your wallet. They will not take electronics but will allow you to store small items - keys etc in a locker at the security gate. You will be put through a detector before being given a tag for your arm and admitted to the main building.

I picked a number and waited about an hour before being called to present my paperwork. The lady I spoke to was polite and business-like. It turned out that we had used the wrong affidavit of support form but otherwise it was fine.

I paid the fee in USD cash which I had obtained in the Post Office. I understand that they will take a bank draft or cash in either USD or EUR but this may have changed.

I was interviewed by a pleasant man who asked me how we met, and for evidence of meeting in last two years. I handed over copies of photos and emails as well as some supporting documents - flight itineries and so forth. He asked me to swear that the information I gave was truthful. As we used the wrong Affidavit of Support form, he requested that I have my fiancée complete the correct form and to send it in. Otherwise he said the visa would be approved based on the documents submitted.

We sent in the document about a week later and I received my passport and visa about a week later. All in all a straightforward experience.

Be prepared to wait.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
