My interview was very straightforward, it was booked for 11.30am on Tuesday 21st November. I got to the embassy at about 11am and at 11:15 I went to the tent for US Visas. The lady asked for my interview letter and ticked my name off the list before sending me to one of the security rooms. In there it was much like airport security, they sent my file and anything in my pockets through a scanner and I had to walk through a metal detector. All was fine and they let me through. You have to walk around the outside of the building to the main entrance. Inside the lady on reception asked to see my interview letter and gave me a number (I920) and instructed me to go up to the waiting room.

I waited for approximately 25 minutes before my number was called. The lady at the window asked to see my interview letter, passport, photograph, birth certificate, police certificate, I-134 and fiancés employer letter. She also took my fingerprints (it took forever to get my right hand - it kept missing my little finger!). Lastly, she gave me my chest X-ray on a CD and I had to go back to wait for the interview.

It was approximately another 20 minutes before my interview. I was called to another window and had to swear an oath that I was telling the truth and all of my documents were true and correct. The guy was very friendly and it was like having a casual conversation rather than an interview. Most of the questions followed on and were connected to what I had answered from the previous question and it genuinely seemed like he was quite interested in what I had to say. My questions were:

1. How did you meet?
2. How soon after meeting online did you meet in person?
3. How soon after meeting in person did you consider yourselves to be dating?
4. Is he still in living in England or has he moved back to America?
5. Have you been to visit him since he moved back?
6. Has he met your family?
7. Are your family coming to the wedding?

Afterwards he told me it was approved and that I should go and call my fiancé! He returned my birth certificate to me and I was free to go. Big sigh of relief! I spent a total of about an hour at the embassy.
