My husband arrived early at the embassy and was the first in line to go in and be called. One guy was pulled out of the line and sent to store his cell phone in a locker or in his car: another reminder to not bring a cell phone to your interview!

When they called his name he went first to one glass window and gave his fingerprints and passport. Then he had to go to a waiting area for a little while. When the CO was ready, he sat in a sort of glassed area across from the CO. There was a microphone to communicate. The CO went through each of the papers in our file with my husband.

At one point, the CO turned off the microphone and turned to a colleague to talk for a couple of minutes, but my husband of course couldn't hear what they were saying. When the CO came back, he asked my husband a couple of questions: "How did you meet? Where are you going to live in the U.S.? What are you planning to do for work? What does your wife do?" He didn't ask for any of the copies we prepared; apparently they already had made copies themselves. (And I think I recall that when I sent materials, I also sent copies for them to keep...so maybe that's why...they just had a lot of paper already!)

After a little bit, the CO told my husband, "Congratulations, you're approved." And that was that. He told A to expect his passport and visa via track/trace mail in about 4 days. Good Friday might slow down the mail a bit. But we are so happy this is finally coming to a successful close!

The CO was very nice, according to A. He wasn't overly friendly but not unfriendly, just businesslike and positive. All in all A said it was a very positive experience and he felt good the entire time; he said the rest of the staff was very nice and very efficient. We'd give the Amsterdam Embassy two thumbs up today!
