To my VJ Family I need your assistance & help.

When we filed/applied for I-130 wherein a photocopy of a valid passport is one of the basic & major requirement/s, I sent the photocopy of my Philippine Passport with my SINGLE NAME all throughout the process started from USCIS to NVC. But in our I-130 application and NVC DS-230 forms we used and put my MARRIED NAME. Does it will affect and bring confusion to the interviewing consulate if ever? Or do I need to amend my Philippine Passport using my married name? My passport is still valid until October 2009.

Lastly, what are the necessary documents I should prepare/bring during the CR1/CR2 interview aside from PROOF OF A GENUINE MARRIAGE/RELATIONSHIP? I believe NVC has everything already and the latter will forward the same original documents to USEM-Consulate. We are anticipating for an August 2008 interview. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi, im a cr1 filer too, we have thesame case, until now i havent change my passport yet into my married name, during our application for 130 I did not present any copy of my passport, just last week my husband paid for our AOS. do you know what is the next procedure after that? how long will it be take before the medical, i have to know that because im 7 months pregnant as of now. Are u still in the philippines? can i get ur cp no? hope to hear from you.

After the AOS cleared to 'PAID' you have to print the bar-coded coversheet then send the entire AOS Packet to NVC. Likewise, the moment NVC generates the Immigrant Visa (IV) Bill ur husband must pay it as soon as possible, please do use NVC Online Payment because it is faster than the traditional way. Using online payment u'll be done with NVC process approximately 30-45 days. Again, when payment change to 'PAID' status you can print the bar-coded coversheet & forward it to NVC along with your DS-230 forms part I (signed) & Past II (Unsigned). After case complete, the following month most likely will be your medical & interview sked. Thanks.

Hi there again, that was really annoying somehow becasue I spend almost 1,000 pesos to FEdEx the copy of my ammended passport to NVC so that my married name will appear on the VISA once I receive it...but as I told it didn't happen.
During my interview, I told the pre-screener that if my VISA will get printed I want my married name on it. I don't know if he found me sarcastic or whatever that time, coz I sounded too confident. But as far as I can remember, I still modestly (and timely) ask him when he handed me the DS form I submitted and he told me to review if any information there has changed and he asked me to sign it (this is the one when the pre screener ask to review and sign the DS form....I think everybody go through this). SO I told "Umm...pwede po ba na pag narelease na yung VISA ko po eh married name ko na po yung gamitin nyu", I told that kindly and not with loud tone, it also comes to my mind to say that since he handed me the DS form and he told me "Please review it, then tell me if something has changed" Actually, I thought that what was written in that DS form was my single name that is why I told him the statement, I forgot that when I fill up the DS form I signed my married name. Recalling that incident, I was like uh-oh. Then when the Final Interview came, this is when an American Consul interviewed me, she asked "Would you like your married name to appear on your VISA?" I said "Yes, Ma'm please" "Okay, that's no problem". And so on....
Then when I saw my Immigraton VISA and that Delbros delivery guy ask me if there is error...I was like hummm...Okay, it's fine. But at the back of my mind "Jeez, it still has my name when I was single"

I don't know if it is a case to case basis but also regarding this passport ammended thing, you will do this in DFA office.
The requirements that was asked me to submit are:
-accomplish form from them with 2x2 pic atteached(I forgot the form but they just give it and have you fill it up)
-original copy of passport
-xerox copy of passport
-original copy of NSO authenticated Married Certificate
-xerox copy of CFO certificate

Fee of 100.00
After 3 days I receive the ammended passport and it was just a dry seal to the second page of my old passport. I expected they will give some sort of new passport or they will change the biographical page of the passport but it was just a dry seal next to "Not Valid in Iraq" page.
Here was the exact e-mail from NVC when I inquired for change of name:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

The NVC is unable to honor your request to change the applicant's name, as a copy of the applicant's passport containing the applicant's current name was not received. If you wish the name to be changed, please submit a copy the biographical page of the applicant's passport to the address below.

National Visa Center
ATTN: WC
32 Rochester Avenue
Portsmouth, NH 03801

Regards,
National Visa Center
RN

Then I immediately submitted the ammended passport and expedited it (FedEx). Whew, then after 7 days. I received a letter from NVC that they acknowledge my name change.

You're welcome star_smile.gif

Hi, my wife change her passport to her married name during the time it was at NVC, they told me she can keep her single name passport, and the visa will be issued to her in her single name, but if she changes it she should do now while at the NVC becuse after the nvc it will just complicate things, so I think you should just keep your single name now.You might want your husby to call the NVC and talk to a operator to make sure though:-)

Thanks much David for the additional info. Hope your wife and I can meet in Manila sometime. God bless.
