Interview preparation question

Hey VJers,

I was assembling my packet to take to the interview coming up in roughly 2 weeks. One of the checklist says, "A completed Affidavit(s) of Support (Form I-864) with all required evidence, including the following, for each of your sponsors (unless already submitted): Federal income tax returns, letters from each current employer verifying current rate of pay, evidence of your sponsor's citizenship status."

I'm the applicant, and my husband is the USC. I already submitted an I-864. I just wanted to take another copy of what I submitted (I-864 and tax transcripts of years 2013, 2014, and 2015 from my husband) from my original application in case the interviewing officer asks for it.

I abridged some of the wording of the checklist notice, but here's my question. If I didn't submit a letter from my husband's current employer about his employment status and details in the original submission, is it OK to not take it to the interview as well? Is this something I shouldn't take my chances on and ask my husband to get a letter ASAP?

If you didn't already submit it, there is a good bet they'll ask for it, so better to get that letter. Usually it's very simple, and just includes start date, position, annual rate of pay; so it shouldn't be too difficult for his HR to complete in that timeframe. Also bring some of the paystubs for the last few months from your husband as well, that's something that can also prove rate of pay to an extent (particularly with it being so close to the end of the calendar year).

In essence, they just want to make sure that the income is still the same (or similar) from when you first filed everything and meets the 125% requirement.

Just wanted to come back and say a giant thanks to your advice. We ended up just taking a HR-written letter confirming the basics of his employment and it really played into explaining to the officer during the interview why we decided to stay physically/distance-wise separated for now. As soon as he saw the letter he said, "Oh, you make a pretty good salary! I can see why you wouldn't want to just abandon it." It didn't seem to matter too much to him that my husband had a daughter that he didn't want to move too far away from to consider. It was the employment letter that really convinced him.
