  1. Right now, my ex is pissed over Gretchen and hauling me back to court. I have to take care of that issue now. and my ex does not even know I know yet. She thinks it is still a surprise.

What a mess. I feel sorry for your Gretchen.

AS for her working, that is not what we want. She wants children. I want her to be at home with the children. I do not want her working. To me family is important. Very important. Also, in her village no women work.

Give her a year or 2 when she gets bored in the house taking care of you and started to feel like a prisoner. By that time she would wish she had a job.

  2. Did you use I 864 EZ or I-864? My income is enough to cover all of us so I used I-864 EZ and I did not use I-864a but I will send a copy to my mom this week. Just in case.

I used I-864. My income is also enough but they still want the I-864a. If you are sending the I-864a to your mom, you might as well send another I-864. Best of Luck to your Mom.

  3. Hello,

My wife just recently arrived in the US as a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR). I was wondering if she can have her mom file for an immigrant visa to come to the states. We would obviously sponsor her but I didn't know if it was possible since my wife is a LPR or will I have to wait for my wife to become a US citizen first? I saw something about an IR-5 for parents but everything I saw on it didn't really answer my question. Also, my wife's mom has a son (my wife's brother) who is under 18 years old so if her mom came over would he come with so we would be sponsoring and applying for both of them or would he stay in his country? Any help would be useful. Thanks in advance!!!

Once your wife become a US Citizen, she can petition her mom. Once the mom is here she would be an LPR and the mom can petition her son.

  4. Hello,

    I have a question.

USCIS approved on July 14th. Been checking NVC phone system but nothing.

Called the operator and was told they just received the cases yesterday, so it is not in a system yet.

When do I actually email the D3032 form to assign agent, can I do that now, or do I need to wait.

Also, does the email address have to be from beneficiary or petitioner?

    Thanks,

    Anton

Since they just received your cases yesterday, call again in two days or so. As soon as you have your case number call back again and speak to an operator so you can provide them your email addresses for both beneficiary and petitioner.

  5. 5) Strangers you meet in the streets or while walking in the mall smile a lot. Sales people greet like they really mean to know 'how your day is going'. In the Phils, when sales people greet you at the store entrance it sounds so mechanical you just ignore them most of the time.. I still get shy because of the over-friendliness sometimes, but it is something I can get used to.

    8) About friendly strangers, they also gush at how cute your toddler is as if they're long-lost relatives or neighbors. I am so not used to the friendliness sometimes I smile sheepishly and try to wheel away slowly my little one.

Those are fake smiles :) ..

  6. So, after a month with calling NVC and finally e-mailing a scanned copy of my NOA2 for my parents I finally got their NVC case number. So, what's next after this? Will I get a letter? An Email? or Do I have to call them again? I wish there's a forum or discussion on IR5s...it sure would be very helpful how they prepared and the steps they petitioners did.

You will receive more emails from NVC if you provided them your email address and your parents email address.

  7. Does anyone know how to change your gender here on Visajourney? I just registerd and can now see that it says Im a male.

Click " Settings" then "Profile", scroll a little bit down then look for "gender" :)

  8. Hi guys!

I filed for IR-5 for both my parents and both cases have been completed at the NVC on 7-18-2011 (just yesterday). Yay, finally!!! I called NVC this morning to ask approximately how long it takes for them to schedule an interview. The operator told me to call back the 3rd week of August to see if an interview is scheduled for September. Is it really true that they only schedule interview every 2nd week of the month? He said USEM in Manila is fully booked for the month of August. Is anyone here on the same boat as I am? Did anyone have a "case complete" this month and already have an interview schedule?

Any input will be highly appreciated. I just can't wait to finally have my parents here with me! :)

    Thank you!!!

My mom's case was completed a day after your parents. I'm hoping for September interview.

  9. I am getting a divorce and I am worried my X will try to collect from me on the 864. I have heard that it is very hard to enforce this. Does anyone know what I should expect. Should I be worried. Also my income is only a couple of hundred dollars over the 864 amount. Thanks.

    Page 3 of I-864 instruction:

How Long Does My Obligation as a Sponsor Continue?

Your obligation to support the immigrant(s) you are sponsoring in this affidavit of support will continue until the sponsored immigrant becomes a U.S. citizen, or can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters of work in the United States.

Although 40 qualifying quarters of work (credits) generally equate to ten years of work, in certain cases the work of a spouse or parent adds qualifying quarters. The Social Security Administration can provide information on how to count qualifying quarters (credits) of work.

The obligation also ends if you or the sponsored immigrant dies or if the sponsored immigrant ceases to be a lawful permanent resident and departs the United States. DIVORCE DOES NOT end the sponsorship obligation.

  10. yes, it should be original. and the also the Affidavit of Support coming from ur fiance'. you can also bring a statement of account just to be sure cause we did that too. I just had my interview yesterday and fortunately i passed! I wish you goodluck on your interview...

Oh! this must be new. Of all my immigration interviews I was never asked for original W2's and ITR's.

  11. Hello To everyone,

I have not been in this forum for a long time due to some deployments and life in general. I am a USC and I just got my parents I-130 approved and sent to NVC on June 6th 2011. I called the NVC to see if they have the paperwork, and they told me: " They do have the papers from the USCIS, but have not keyed the information in their system yet, and therefore they do not have a NVC case number". Furthermore, she stated that it takes 2 to 6 weekse for them to do so, and this seems a long time to wait around.

I know that I should keep calling them till I get the NVC number for the case, and I intend on doing so. My questions are:

    1. What documents does the NVC send you as petitioner? Are these forms available on-line for me to print them oput and fill them out, so I don;t have to wait up to 6 weeks? Are tax transcripts allowed as proof when filing I-864? Does the beneficiary have to provide more documents at this steop, such as arrest records anything like that during this process ( not that my parents have one)?

What are the next steps as far as the NVC is concerned? Are there any more fees ( I am guessing that there are more fees to pay because it is a never ending process)? If so, what other fees are there assoiated with this process?

I know I asked to many questions, bu please help me understand this. Thank yuo very much for all the answers in advance. You guys are great.

Once you have your NVC #, call them again and speak to an operator and ask your IIN, at the same time provide them your email addresses(you and your mom). You can sign in to their Payment Center to pay for the Affidavit of Support (AOS) of $88 and IV Fees which is $404.

Right now, start gathering your Affidavit of Support documents; 2010 Tax Return Transcript, 2010 W-2, last 6 mos of Pay Stubs, Employment Letter and completed form I-864.

  12. I called USCIS today because im locked out of my account to check my case, i cant remember the PW as it was saved in my browser before i did a format. I clicked on forgot password and i was sure of the answer to my security question but it wasnt accepted. I called USCIS and the woman informed me i would have to set up an infopass meeting with a local office to get back into my online account. This sounds absurd has anyone ever heard this or knows a way to get the account back?

Just make another account using a different email address.

  13. Quick IR-5 update. 5/18/11.

Called NVC today and got the case number from AVR. Called again to speak to the operator. Provided beneficiary's e-mail address. My e-mail address is already in their system but I asked him to read it back to me just to verify.

I also asked for the IIN (Invoice Identification Number). He gave the number and mentioned that no invoice is generated as of yet.

Within 10 minutes, I send the choice of agent DS-3032 in e-mail format, plain text, no attachment, coming from the beneficiary's e-mail address.

For those who are in the same boat, or are just lurking around while waiting for their NOA2, I hope you will find this update helpful. I will update this as I go along.

Thank you for sharing. I am almost on this stage.
