Congrats guys! I was the one who chat with you a little bit while waiting inside the Embassy. I saw you guys left the embassy really soon. It took me a lot longer though, had to go back after lunch for my final interview. All the best to both of you! -William

If you guys are married for two years or more, your will get an IR1 type if you will apply and approved for an immigrant visa regardless of the residence of your US Citizen spouse.
I assume the US citizen spouse is permanently residing in the US since one of the requirements is the you US citizen spouse's domicile (or intention to live) in the US.

Hi! In response to your query:
IR1 - this is the visa type for a foreign spouse entering the US as an immigrant if marriage to a US Citizen for two years or more.
If less than two years, the foreign spouse's residence status in the US is "conditional" (CR1).

Thanks for adding me up. I think I had my application filed over a week earlier than yours(mine was Jan 8, 2011). It took 4 months, better than what the USCIS advertised of 5-month average processing...looks like they're making a bit progress. You will probably receive the approval notice soon!
