  1. I called NVC and spoke to about 5 different Customer Service Reps and they all told me to just send in the Marriage Certificate and they will attach it to my original certificate to my petition as long as I have provided the barcoded document cover sheet. My main concern was that I did not want them to lose marriage certificate. They did not start to review my DS-230 yet but I guess I will just mail them the certificate before hand.I really hope that this does not slow down my process.

  2. Hello everyone,

My brother just received an RFE because he did not provide his original marriage certificate. The reason he did not send it in is because his marriage certificate is in a different language. Instead of sending in the original he sent in a certified translation of the original. He now has to send in the original untranslated version.

I made the same mistake as my brother. I sent in the certified translation of the original. I just sent in the DS-230 on Tuesday using over night mail. The NVC did not start processing my DS-230 yet.

My question is, can I send in the Original Marriage certificate now or do I have to wait for the RFE? The reason I am asking this is because I do not want to waste anytime waiting and want my case to complete as soon as possible. Also, is there a chance that my additional papers(Original marriage certificate) will get lost and never get matched up with the DS-230?

Does anyone have any experience with this or know what I can do?

Thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

  3. In my limited understanding, the Police Station messes up documents routinely so what you can do is perhaps write a letter along with the Police Certificate and state that it was typo made by the police station who issued the certificate and send that in with the form. Note that the police certificate expires in 3 months so by the time she is scheduled for an interview, I'd advice that you ask her to get another certificate made and take it to the embassy at the time of her interview and hand that in too. I had one sent in with the DS-230 and then one more for the interview and when I reached US and caught a glimpse of my file at immigration, I saw that new PC on top of all the documents. Its not something that could get her in trouble but its better to not take any risks and make her life easy. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply guys. Also, the Police Certificate is just a template with her information filled in and it is handwritten and not type written. Do you think I should send in this police certificate and include a letter? If so, what should I write.

  4. Hello everyone,

My DS 230 package is all ready to go out. I just looked at my wifes police certificate and there is a problem. Her ID card number on the certificate is incorrect. Her ID number is xxxxxx681 but on the police certificate it is incorrectly listed as xxxxxx618. The "1" and the "8" numbers are reversed. All the other numbers are correct it is just that those two numbers are in reverse order. I do not know what to do. I have my package all ready to go out. The Police department made this mistake. How can I rectify this situation? I do not want to receive an RFE for this or have her have trouble at the embassy.

    Please help me out!

  5. In another 2 weeks it will be 5 months since I filed my I-130. I am expecting an approval any day now as my brother received his approval almost 3 weeks ago and he filed 2 weeks before I did.

My question is: Is it ok to fill out and print the I-864, I-864a, DS230, and DS3032 now while I wait for I-130 approval? The reason I ask this is if I print out the forms today then I will have to put in today's date. Will the NVC not accept the forms if the date of signatures is a month or so old? I just want to speed things up as much as possible and that is why I want to have the forms ready now.

When did you guys start to fill out these forms? Does the NVC really care if the date on the forms is not recent? I would like to get some input from you guys.

    Thanks

  6. Hello everyone,

I have a question about sending the I-864 and the IV packet. I read the shortcuts and I remember it saying to send originals of the documents as well as an extra copy of all documents.

Do I really have to make and send copies of all the original documents that I will be already be including in these packets?

Did you guys send these packets with or without extra copies?

If I send extra copies, do I also have to send copies of the original filled forms as well(ex; a copy of the form I-864)?

    thanks in advance

  7. Hello everyone,

What do I put as "Current Occupation" on the DS-230 if I graduated college and never worked before. I graduated with a B.A and am studying for the GMAT to try and get my Masters degree. I never had a job and I do not think I am classified as a student since I am not currently in school.

Also on the I-864 they ask for "Sponsors income and employment." Should I put in "Unemployed" even though I was never employed?

  8. Hello all,

I am asking this question for my brother.... he recently received his NOA2 on Jan 12th.

When I login to the online application fee payment site with my NVC case number and iid number it says…AOS fee amount $88.00…payment status not paid… It tells me to enter my bank information to make the payment. I called the NVC and asked if I should pay the AOS fee bill and they told me not to make payment until my DS-3032 is generated. As per LingChe’s shortcuts it seems that one can pay the AOS fee as soon as you receive your iid number. As a side note the NVC operator told me that my case just arrived on Tuesday January 18, 2011. What do you guys think? Should I pay my AOS fee bill and once the payment status says paid then mail my AOS package to the appropriate address?

    Thanks in advance

  9. Should I ask my wife to get a Police Certificate and send it to me BEFORE my I-130 gets approved? The reason I am asking this is because I here that the police certificates are good for 3 months and I do not want it to expire before I get to use it. I also read somewhere that even though the 3 months are up the certificate is still good for up to one year. Can some one give me some input about this?

  10. You will need an original. In the UK, if you order a Police cert, you can order extra copies at the same time, but you will need all originals for NVC.

Im sure the police cert sent to the nvc is forwarded by the nvc to the consulate prior to the interview.

Thanks for clearing that up for me because I did not know that the NVC needs only original documents. Does this also go for my marriage certificate, I mean do I have to send in my original marriage certificate?

And if possible, do you think I should ask her to try and get 2 original copies of the Police Certificate(one for me and one for her)?
