  1. My petition hasn't been denied. I'm just in a really tight spot for certain reasons. Nothing that could stop me from appealing the case once i got the materials i need. You might have to look at my content to understand why.

If the petition is denied, you can appeal the decision. They send a form with the denial and the amount that needs to be paid and the date it all has to be returned by. You follow the instructions, send whatever needs to be sent and pay the fee. We also had our congressman call on our behalf to find out why we were denied, we got a lot of help from his office. All of it seemed to work, we sent everything in and got our NOA2 not long after.

So after they deny it, they send you the form? how do you get the form? Who did you talk to when you call your congressman? And congratulations! I can imagine how happy you must've been after getting approved! congrats!

  2. The same was going thru my mind when I filed for the petition for the K-1 for my fiancee. I did not listened to my inner voice and made a copy of my USC certificate. But I wrote on it "COPY to be used only by immigration dept". I have no idea if that was the right thing to do or not I just did it.

By the way OP: yo soy un come platanos :)

come platanos! lucky you! i always like to play by the rules! :bonk: and it always ends up this way. NEVER again am i going to rely on the "rules" for assurance :bonk:

  3. Thank you so much. And Gary, i don't know if you took what i said to be sarcasm, but i really am thanking all of you for the information you gave me willingly.

    I email them today.

And speaking of verification, have any of you seen this form for USCIS about verification. I just found it. Do you think maybe this might help my situation?

  4. I received a letter that asked me for proof of my citizenship. I'm a naturalized citizen. I didn't send a copy of my naturalization because when i got naturalized i was told that making a copy of it was illegal and i thought that sending in my certificate isn't a good idea. In November i decided i wasnted to spend christmas with my fiance and but i didn't have my passport ready, so at that moment i started searching for my naturalization certificate and i couldn't find it. i felt very sad and worried since that very day. The first thing i did was file for a new certificate. I received the receipt for it in December and that's as close as it gets.

I called the uscis number to see if they could help me. i spent hours [literally] talking to different people and finally i talked to someone who told me that the only way to get proof to get a limited passport or for the proof their asking is by getting a Verification letter executed by a USCIS consulate and she told me to make an info pass because she doesnt have all the details. I immediately made an info pass online for the next day. When i arrived after paying $14 for parking and still having to walk i go in and wait my long turn to speak to someone only to be told that i can only get it from the court house in the state in which i was naturalized. Problem with this is that i'm in New Jersey and i got Naturalized when i lived in Louisiana. As we all who have tried know, there are no local numbers for the uscis offices, so i can't get in contact with anyone in Louisiana about this.

I was thinking about writing a letter to the USCIS in Texas [for my citizenship Certificate] to please hurry up with it, one to the USCIS in Louisiana [about a verification letter], and one to the Vermont one [i129f petition] with my receipt for my new Certificate and all the stuff i have that was giving to me when i became a citizen explaining the cituation. I don't believe they can extend time that long to wait for my certificate and since there's a new certificate coming out, i can already guess it's going to take longer than usual. I'm really afraid that they might cancel my petition for fiance. I don't know what to do. This is really stressing me out and they have to have that proof in their hands by February 15. I'm pulling my hair out because of this!

Please! suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

  5. I'm totally new to this and i'm doing it all by myself. I don't know how others do it so i wanted information.

    1. does age play a big part of whether they accept the visa or not?

    2. I was notified through email about a paper that i was going to get sent to 'request for evidence'. when i sent my petition i asked my mom whether i should send evidence(my mom is always points me in the right direction), she said they'll ask for it if they need it and ofcourse i knew they would. I only have maybe two pictures (both of us together) from the last time i went. i have my passport that shows both years i went. i also have a whole bunch of receipts from the times we've talked starting about two years ago. i dont know what evidence they'll ask for but will this be enough? What evidence were you guys asked for?

    3. Do they ALWAYS require an interview? if so, did you get nervous? how much was the interview and where was it at?

    4. Aside from flights, what other stuff did you have to pay for? no prices since i'm guessing that for every country its different

    5. Between the time that they ask you for evidence and the interview, is there a big gap or is it quick?

Anything that would be of help would be GREATLY appreciated!

My petition was filed July 2010. The status on my petition changed January 13 2011.
