  1. hello all! how do I proceed on my 8 year old daughter's K2 visa-follow to join?... My K1 visa was issued on October 21, 2010..She is still in the Philippines and were planning to let her come here by june.. any help will be much appreciated..thanks everyone..

Your daughter should be here before your K1 visa expire.

  2. I would advise trying to do as much investigating as possible regardless of where your potential husband is from.

And may I ask, just what on earth makes the morals of in the U.S. so terrible as opposed to some other place? Show me a country that has no issues with morals and we will agree that is a of paradise.

I am glad to see you insert "we are not all bad" at the end of that statement. I think a more accurate statement about cheating men should have been, "Most american men will cheat."

Many men don't cheat because of the concepts of LOYALTY and INTEGRITY, or just plain ole recognition of the fact they have found a wonderful woman and really value her...not withstanding faith.

    Agree with you.

  3. thank you kikip for spending a little time to read this. i love him so much but even its hard to move on i think thats best i gotta do. U are right he is not gonna change anymore i guess. All hopes are gone and i dont know if i can tolerate this. He is the one supporting me since he told me i dont need to work, but there are times he slapping me all the helped he gave me. He dont want me to ask questions, he is not sharing things he is just happy to talk with others. His last visit here is last august 2010 and he never went in his son i told him he can go but just take me with him and its ok for me to stay in hotel but then he never went there so now he keep blaming me for tht. am i wrong on tht part? i just want him to take me in visayas and stay in hotel and to meet his child but he dont want.

Cheating is not a good thing to start the relationship with. If he is cheating and lieng to u now that u are on a gf-bf relationship,,how much more when u two are married??

Marriage is all about trust, love, honesty, committment ,loyalty and Faith in God. If one of this is missing.. relationship won't work.

Sorry it happened to u but u deserve someone else better than him..who will love u with all his heart.

Good Luck and time heals wounds..Let go of him, forgive and forget and MOVE ON. It's easier said than done but that is the best and the right thing to do.,,unless u wanna be cheated and mis treated all the time and suffer which no one deserves.

  4. My fiancee Judy earns 200 pesos a day. The minimum wage in PI varies by region and she is in Metro Manila where the legal minimum for non farm work is 404 pesos a day.

She says they don't give her any paystubs because it's below minimum.

I'm thinking if she gets here before the end of the year and we get married, we will file as married for 2011 but then we would be required to include her income when we file here. there would be no paperwork to substantiate her income.

Anybody have any experience with this.

Why wud she declare her income in the Philippines when she is not working here? Before i came here i was working in the Philippines and when we filed the joint income tax here..i put zero in my income since i was not working when i got here.

  5. Hi guys,

My wife and I live in our house, the loan for which is in my name only, as I bought the house before marriage. Same is the case with the car. Is this going to be a problem when providing and proving evidence of relationship?

Neither do I have utilities in my wife's name because they wouldn't add my wife's name to it. Instead, my wife needs to start the process all over again and she will be considered a new customer and pay a new registration fee.

Following is the other evidence that I am providing:

    1. Joint Credit Card

    2. Joint Checking account statement (which we use only once a year for tax refund)

    3. Joint Savings account statement

    4. Joint Tax returns for 2007, 2008, 2009

    5. Medical, Dental, Vision coverage showing wife as dependant

    6. Life insurance

    7. 401k with wife as beneficiary

    8. Joint Auto insurance

    9. Wife's bank statements (her account)

    10. Wife's credit card statements (her account)

    11. Wife's pay stubs

    12. Vacation trips itineraries

    13. Photos

    14. Two affidavits from friends

What do you guys think? Not having the house and car in both our names is a cause for concern?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,

    Kannan

Looks good to me. About the house and the car my name was added in both .all we did is call the Statefarm and the water company and they added my name.

  6. My step daughter failed her TB test (the skin test). They didn't delay her at all; just approved her visa and let her come to the states. At POE Detroit they informed my wife (fiancee then), that they were notifying the Georgia Health Department and that they would be in touch. About a week after they arrived, I got a call from the local health dept telling me to get a chest xray for the girl and bring her in. After reviewing the chest xray, they put her on a nine month regimen of daily tablets and a blood test every month. She has two months left.

Where in GA are u from? I am in Gainesville.

  7. My Filipina Fiancee has had bad cough and cold since weekend of Feb 19th. This past weekend it seemed much better but Tuesday she had fever and cough was worse and kept her up all Monday night so she went to the clinic Tuesday morning and they gave her a chest x-ray. Today she got the results of the x-ray and she told me they said they cannot determine if she has pneumonia or TB. So they they gave her the shot under the skin to verify if she has TB or not.

Assuming she has TB (I'm going worst case here!) what can we do now for treatment and how long will that take? We are October 2010 I-129F filers and may get NOA2 or something this month or next (maybe) but what have others and thier Filipina Fiancees done in situation where they have found out the Fiancee has TB while waiting for NOA2? Or even at her medical exam?

What kind of K-1 VISA process delays can we expect?

She's REALLY broken up about this. I leave to visit her next week.

Thanks for any information or sharing.

If worst scnario comes which am hoping not.. the medication is 9 months and has to be done at St. LUkes.

  8. That is good to know but my passport right now is already on my married name. I just want to take the chances that they will be in the next state than waiting on december and driving to Washington D.C for about 9-10 hrs, really hope it works.

I renewed my passport 11 months before its expiration when the Consulate had their outreach here in Atlanta,I do not want to go to DC and spend hrs. of travel for a $50 passport and i did'nt had any problem.

  9. Hi...

I understand that you do not need a DSWD Clearance when a child is travelling with one parent, however, a recent incident in NAIA made me mention this, where a mother was quizzed about the clearance. It may be ignorance on the immigration officer's part at NAIA but this got me really wary, that's why I mentioned the words . :)

It could be the CFO personnel forgot to put the mother's name on her child's passport stating that she is accompanying her child.

My kid's passport has annotation that me the mother is travelling with my kids and i had no problem at all even in our POE.

  10. May just received her Green Card in the mail today but The name on the card is "May A. Del Rosario Brody". All the paperwork we have submitted plainly shows the she hyphenated her last name as "May A. Del Rosario-Brody".

Her employment card arrived yesterday and her name included the hyphen.

Is the hyphen missing from her name on her Green Card something we need to fix? Or just a limitation of the system that produces the card?

What have my fellow VJers seen?

    Thanks in advance

    Adam & May

I think they do not put hyphen on a person's name on a Green card. My daughter's name is hyphenated but her green card don't have the hyphen on it but it's not a problem. Kids are now settled in the US in their schools, got their SSN and Green card.

  11. I am going through this process right now and the NVC didn't ask me for custody papers. In fact it says it's not applicable. Nevertheless, make sure that when they travel to the US they have DSWD clearance even if they're traveling with you just in case the authorities ask for it and a notarized letter from the dad that he is aware of the kids moving and living with you.

I am going home to be with my daughter for her medical and interview even if it's not necessary.

    Best of luck.:)

The father's authorization is necessary. YOU DO NOT need the DSWD clearance if ur kids are travelling with u. The clearance is ONLY needed if neither one of the parent is travelling with the kids.

You may not realize it but it is important (which is better) if u are with her after she has her visa on hand as u will never know what's gonna happen during her medical exam.

ALso if u get a CFO sticker for her it is best u are there that way CFO office won't ask a bunch of documents if it's only the guardian who will accompany her.

My kids just got here on IR2 visa last November 2010.I went home as soon as they had their visa on hand. My daughter had a slight issue on her medical exam which made them stay a week more at the hotel in Manila. I would be more than willing to answer any questions u may have regarding this.

    Good luck!

  12. First off- Thank you heaven for this site!

We are presently on the NVC stage, and we haven't gotten the affidavit from the father to allow 2 children to permanently reside in the US.

I am the biological mother, divorced (not annulled)from the father of my children. The stepdad has petitioned for them. The divorce papers granted joint custody, and they are presently residing with him.

    My questions..

Will a notarized letter be sufficient, both for NVC and the consulate?

I spoke with the father's assistant last night, and I was told that the father would be okay to sign a letter/affidavit allowing them to go, but would not allow absolution of parental rights. It was such a relief that he will sign, I just need a draft that would be acceptable to the NVC.

Anyone has any inputs/experiences regarding this? We will truly appreciate it. Thanks so much.

If u are travelling with ur kids then you DO NOT need the DSWD clearance. DSWD clearance is only needed if the minor kids are travelling with somebody else beside the biological parents.

My kids just got here last NOv 2010 and no DSWD clearance was asked from me. Am not sure about the father's affidavit since my kid's biological father already passed away and even before we filed the petition for them my kid's dad was already out of the picture and i had the full custudy of my kids.

  13. hello i just wonder if anyone here tried to get drivers permit without green card?my green card still processing but my ead its already approve and need to wait for 30 days to get it n mail so now im just thinking if i can take the written test for drivers permit just to print the site says my card is production and also bring some reciepts from uscis, theres anyone tried this way just cant wait for my card n mail.i tried to call my dmv office here but no one answer

I think it depends on what state u are in. I got my driver's license here in GA and all they asked from me are utility bills , my passport and my marriage certificate,,did not have my green card that time yet and that was 4 yrs. ago.

  14. ??? Certificate of No Marriage?? Your profile shows IR-1/CR-1 and this is posted in the IR-1/CR-1 forum, this visa type is for spouse of a US citizen, this implies being married, how can you get a NO-Marriage cert when your are in fact Married???

The OP's profile indicates being married?? How can you get a No Marriage cert when being married??

OP is married. You are not.

    Moving to regional forum.

Opps! Didnt noticed that IR1- But is the OP asking for Certificate of Marriage which they need? and not the Cert. of NO Marriage.

  15. hello All!

i have my ROC petition approved on january 6th. it's almost 60 days from the date of approval yet no green card has arrived. when do i call the USCIS to inquire, before or after 60 days?

    anyone in the same situation?

i thank you in advance for your reply.

Just be patient. At least u know u are approved. It may be on ur way. I got mine 2 weeks after i got the letter from them.

  16. my nbi was issued last april 20, 2010 and my interview will be n march 15, 2011 would this be a problem? as Ive read one of the post here that they are strict with the NBI clearance. If we have on file is about to expire they will ask you to submit a new one.? is this true? i mean i need answer for this.. thanks

Correct me if am wrong but i do think NBI shud be at least 6 months valid. It would be better if u get a new one.

  17. ESL is for non English speakers. It can be prerequisites to get in an English101/1A if a student plans to get a degree/certificate. In regular classes, a professor expects their students know the basic. S/he is not going to elaborate everything except his/her lecture. Therefore, ESL is beneficial to some students if they want to take it.

For your son's ESL, that is okay. He will be proficient in English before he gets in college.

I went through ESL classes in California to get in English-1A. I invested money, time, and aggravation in these classes. Yet, I am still struggling to construct a correct grammar.

More disappointments dropped on my shoulder when I moved in Nevada in Dec. 2010. In January 2011, I went to a college to enroll. I was very disappointed when I found out that my ESL credit units from California were not transferable. I'm frustrated. I don't know where to go except taking TOEFL test to be able to get in regular English classes. On the other hand, I'm able to take other regular classes. It is not preventing me from getting into my major. In fact, my other credit units were credited. Everything is fine. Imagine, I needed 9 units to get in English-101 in Nevada. :crying: 9 units. :crying:

    Thanks , i appreciate it.

  18. Hello, my wife is from the Philippines and she has a Philippino passport in her maiden last name.

We have been married for a few years and went through the process of obtaining her Permanent Resident card which is in her married last name.

Her drivers license is also in her married last name.

We are planning to visit her family in the Philippines in a few months. We already booked the tickets for the trip and were told by the airlines

to book my wife's ticket in the exact same name as it appears on her passport (maiden last name).

Since her passport is in a different last name than her Permanent Resident card and drivers license, will there be a problem with Customs when we travel? Should we bring a copy of our marriage certificate to the airlines? Is there some other form or document we need to bring?

On a side note... I assume we NEED to bring her Permanent Resident card for travel, is that correct? If we have to bring it that's fine, I was just concerned that it might get lost or stolen during the trip.

    Thanks for any help.

Book the ticket according to what her name was in the passport. DO NOT forget to bring with u when u travel important documents relating to name change especially the marriage certificate.

  19. Hey everyone,

My permanent residents card arrived this morning! Is this the card that enables everything, work etc? if so, then this is amazingly quick. filed AOS in december, and here it is! Many Thanks

    Olly.

First of all congratulations! Wether u have 2 or 10 yr. green card that means u are now a legal resident of the US and can work legally.
