  1. You can not file for a father-in-law. An LPR can not file for a father. Your husband must be a USC in order to file for his father.

There is no such thing as co-applying. There can only be one petitioner.

It's faster for the USC stepparent to file than for an LPR parent to petition a child. It would take a year for you to petition for your stepson. It would take 2 years for your LPR husband to file for his son.

    thank you,

Do I only need to complete the I-130 and show proffer of being his stepmother?

    hi

only your husband can file for his father

you can file for stepson, as long as his mother consents and authorizes to live here in the US

What do I need to show his mothers consent?

  2. I brought my husband her from the Dominican Republic 2yr ago, He's a resident not citizen yet.

My husband isn't able to apply for his father as he still isn't a citizen yet, I tying to see if I'm able to bring my father in-law or co-apply with my husband to bring him.

I'm also waiting to bring my stepson, I know as his stepmother I can apply for a visa, I wonder if it would be faster and better if I fill out the I-130 as I'm American, or would it be better for my husband to do so. I'm trying to see witch is faster as I don't want to wait till he's to much older as he's 12yr old and the older he gets the more difficult school will be for him.

I would appreciate any help any one could give me

  3. I have just been approved for the NOA2 on May 10th and it is being sent to the NVA and I am awaiting a case #. Do you have any idea why they denied you the first time? Were there any factors that you felt were "red flags" for the embassy now that you are looking back?

We were denied the first time around when the asked use questions at the window, one of the questions asked we answered the same but in two different ways and for them it was a read flag, plus the person doing our interview got bothered with my my husband for no reason and passed us off the the fraud unit. That day just turned into a nightmare.

The bottom line was my husband swear since we were married for real and I traveled every month to see him that would be enough for them. Typical Latino male, when I wanted to review things others had posted and questions he thought we didn't need to do that, I tried explaining to him that even couples that live together everyday sometime don't know everything about one another but he didn't lesson.

If you get frustrated during the interview its the worse thing to do for some as than they try to get you with back and forth questions as an example we were their from 4am at 10:30 was the question drama.

We were told to site and wait to be called again, not tell us what the next step was to be we weren't called until 4pm and every time I asked what we were waiting on i was told if I didn't feel like waiting to find out what was next we could leave. So by than my husband was bothered and I was upset, when I upset I have major attitude and my husband completely closes off and just agrees with everything you say. When they asked me quest they asked when I was married, or when our first kiss was and were and so on i answered correct but with my attitude. They didn't ask my husband they told him like You were married January right? (we were married June 18) Than your first kiss was on June 18 and your first met in June right. So by than he was just answering yest to everything and i was so pissed because i wasn't allowed to say any thing.

At the end the person doing our last interview told me he can see I travel every month and by my salary he could see I wasn't married for ant financial reasons, but since the question weren't answered correctly by my husband he was sorry couldn't approve our request for a visa. The whole this was a night mare for me.

I don't care what anyone says, its all in the luck of who you get to interview you at the window and what mood there in. I saw people walk away that weren't even asked any question and were approved, the couple next to me in the morning i hard them ask when they meet and how long they were married for and than they were approved.

At the end its just about staying cool trying not to show your frustrated and kiss their _ _ _ if you need to. This time around I'm going to have my doctor give something to be supper relaxed that way nothing bothers me.

Good Luck in your interview I hope you hear something soon!!!!

  8. Well I'm not sure if what I did was right or not, but I hop it helps others not have to go through what i and some other members have gone through the last coupal of years.

I just started a topic under K1 of a list of question myself and other member going through the Dominican Republic for our iterviews were asked and I've aske others from the same embassy to add there questions if they dont see it on the list.

I'm hoping thei will help me my second time around and others there first time and save them all the drama, heart ach, and money I've gone through as have others in my shoes.

  9. These are all about the dominican republic i dont know how the others work

Questions I was asked are the ones I have asked next to them and the rest are questions other members were asked. Please if you dont see one you were asked please add it to the list to help me on my second interview and maybe others on their first.

I hope this can help other as I didnt have this the first time around i went on my faith we love each other and everything would be OK. Wrong if you dont answer there questions right they dont give you a visia!!!!!

I'm currently waiting for our 2nd interview to be set!!!!

  10. they ask you questions about sex??? ####### i guess it makes sense since you are at a high risk/fraud consulate but still #######

They Do???? I was denied and am waiting for my next interview. Our case was just reaffirmed last week ... They asked us if when we had sex the last time were the lights on or off??? thats one i can remember....

  11. thank you so much for your information especially question to review, we were denied June 27,2011, and my case was just reaffirmed last Friday and sent to NVC for further possessing...I'm currently just waiting for a new interview and very nervous about the questions as that why they denied us in the beginning. When I get home i'm going to add the ones the sent me in our denial letter if you dont mind to help anyone else that may be in need going to the Dominican Embassy. :)

    • ladies, don't take a purse (they'll let you skip in line if you don't bring one)
    • you will be standing a very long time - wear comfy shoes
    • the consulate is not air conditioned, dress accordingly
    • make your man hold your evidence (their line moved WAY faster & they barely search them)
    • get there early! we got there at 4 AM - first ones
    • take a cab, buscones hassle you about parking - ignore them completely, everything they say is unreliable to say the least
    • take a stapler & hole punch in your suitcase (but not the the consulate)
    • practice interviewing each other
    • answer only what you are asked - don't give details you weren't asked for
    • take your time when answering
    • ask the to repeat if necessary
    • keep your cool!
this is how i set up my binder, it worked well for me although the only thing we were asked for (besides forms & govt docs were pictures)
