Your approved petition will go to National Visa Center (NVC). This is the “hand-off” place from USCIS to the Department of State (DOS). Your USCIS online tracking won’t work because DOS is over your case now for issuance of a visa via the US Embassy in [your country].
NVC will assign a new case number starting with 3 letters...example LND (for London), MNL (Manila), RDJ (Rio de Janiero)... and keep your petition about 2 days before forwarding it by DHL courier service to [your country].
The NVC will mail a letter to the petitioner in the US informing him/her that they have sent the petition to [your country]. The letter will include the new [XYZ] case number.
After that it is very consulate specific for the next steps. They each have their own procedures for steps leading up to the interview.
Thanks!

At what point does the NVC letter get sent? Does it get sent to both petitioner and beneficiary, or just one or the other? I just got NOA2 as well, and am caught a bit unprepared. Thanks!

My first time posting here. Apparently my application got approved the same day, the 17th, also with an NOA1 on February 1. Wonder if this happened to anyone else?
I appreciate also the replies to this thread, since I am in the same boat as the original poster: caught be surprise with such an early NOA2. I figured I had months to figure out the next steps. Not that I'm complaining at all!

Silly question: What did you put in as the reference to get good results?
