  1. Hey hon, it may take another week to get a reply from them as to when the collection is scheduled. Make sure you are emailing the right address , which is LagosIV@state.gov.Don't worry they are actually pretty fast when it comes to collecting his sample and sending it back out.Good luck and God bless.

Thank God only he is in control! Got the email from them this morning his collection Appt is in 2 weeks!

  2. I know they require DNA tests to bring children from Nigeria to the US but it is weird they are requiring a DNA test on your son who is a US citizen I have a friend who is going for a DNA test to bring their child with them so I did some research and I sent them this sight. I am just concerned for you that the embassy may not accept a self administered kit test. I think these people said they are approved by the Embassy but I dont know if that is true or not and $1000 is so high. This is the web sight but double check on the requirements for a DNA result for Nigeria. It is crazy the loops they make you jump through to be a family.

The kit was not self administered. I took my son 2 a certified aabb lab . It is expenSive.

  4. My prayers and thoughts are with you in this very difficult journey. It is hard enough when one has to go through this without the extra stuff. Your case is even more difficult. I don't have a helpful advice but will keep you in my prayers. Good luck! (F)

Thanks dear! I really needed that.

  5. so they requested DNA test between my son(in US) and my husband(beneficiary in Nigeria.) I have no idea why. Its beyond me why this makes any difference but okay i paid the $1000 for the dna kit. it arrived in Nigeria 2/19/13 so does anyone know what we do next. can i call the embassy in Nigeria? I've already emailed them twice. I'm pretty much tired of this waiting shizznit and spending all this money! i need my man here so he can get to work and Jesus my son needs to see his dad ####### I'm annoyed and venting but yea does anyone know how i can speed up this process or do i have to wait another 8 months! jeez!

  6. Yes...but you wouldn't send this until you get a notice from NVC first saying that they accept you as the Agent of Choice and the IV Package is marked as PAID.

It's been awhile, but I'm sure someone will come along and correct me if I'm wrong.

okay. ppl don't really reply here :(

  7. so basically he has to send me the following information thru mail

    2 passport photos

Completed and signed form DS-230 Part I by the beneficiary

Completed and unsigned form DS-230 Part II by the beneficiary

Photocopy of the beneficiary's passport biographic data page

Original/certified copy of beneficiary’s birth certificate

    Original/certified copy of beneficiary’s and petitioner’s marriage certificate ( i have this )

Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary

and i send it to the nvc as this is the iv package?

  8. Once you have your case number - you and your husband case send a mail to NVC asking them to make you the agent.

There is an email format - hopefully you have seen it on some pages.

    check this:

    goodluck

so then i would have to send the nvc his birth certificate, police records, and another copy of the marriage certificate before the interview at the consular? i thought those r things he takes with him to the interview? I need some lagos specific help pls!!

  9. I'm a little confused as i am reading so many different things about the nvc process. OKAY after i get the nvc case # is that when i can have my husband email them the choice of agent form making me the person who receives all case correspondence? also i have more questions but this question will determine my next question... help pls...also he is in Lagos.

  10. Girl any relationship can be a fraud, any relationship can fail. You can never know everything about a person. It takes time as we all know. Being of the same culture or race has nothing to do with it and proves nothing. I"m a Nigerian who was born in America. My dad is Nigerian and my mom is Nigerian American. Her mother married a Nigerian, my mom married a Nigerian, and i married a Nigerian! My mom and dad have been together for over 30 years! Although i am very in touch with Nigerian culture me and my husband still have imperfections in our relationship because we are human before anything! Yea I'm tired of people thinking all Nigerians are frauds and scammers dammit i work hard for my money and so does my dad and siblings and husband. I met my husband while on vacation in Nigeria so we didn't met online but some people feel we got married too fast ...we met in may, got engaged in December, and married in august! too each its own like someone else said if you feel its real and you know you love this man and u wanna give it a try then go for it mama!! It's your love! the only thing i use this forum for is questions abt the immigration process not for people to advise you about who you should love. OAN i am not attacking anyone i just had to spit my opinion out to olumide's girl not anyone else!

Oh yea i do suggest meeting him first before marriage. :star:

  11. girl i can imagine! does not sound like fun. I had to find chat records as well from since we met but we don't do the online thing much. so i've been forcing him to get online 2 a week to send me emails because we call each other everyday and stay on the phone for hours lol. I have call records to show that. so i'm not to worried abt the chat stuff. my baby is computer slow..he hates typing!

Thanks everyone! u guys r very kind

  12. Ok first I would not advice you to attempt putting your card in any machine. If its an ATM card issued i nNja fine but CC from here? hmmm I dnt know abt that but I would not.

You should not have problems at the airport if someone is coming to pick you up. the atmpshre is nice , a bit slow and maybe lil backward depending on what you are used to ( unless things have changes since oct 2010 when I last traveled,). The customs officer may ask you to give them something for the holidays...its entirely up to you, dnt let anyone pressure you.

you will need N100- N200 to rent one of the carts to wheel your luggage out of the airport.

The amount to take depeneds on your length of stay and what you will be doing but whatever you decide make sure you have at least $500 kept at the buttom of your luggage to be used only in extreme emeregncy in case you get stranded.

you do not need an international phone as roaming may be costly for you. with N5k you can get very basic Nokia phone and then load up calling credit to make calls.

Now hotels in Ibadan? i canot help with that..I am sure there will be but the proximty and to where you ur fiance will be may be an issue

vaccine? I dnt think she needs it but verify with your healthcare provider.

money in luggage? hmmmm i beg to differ. why? well i don't wanna scare her but i feel luggage is an obvious place. and luggage gets misplaced!

  13. i would suggest a typhoid shot and malaria tablets...Yellow fever??? no u don't need that. Your future husband should know about hotels in ibadan since he lives there. Lagos airport is always crazy even to people who are use to it. so just stay calm and the heat will hit you. Often you will wait very unusual long for your luggage be patient it is not lost...however my luggage has been lost twice in the past but it wasn't the fault of the Nigerian airport. everything is unorganized just focus and don't give them customs ppl much mind they will want to check your bags but with me i just give them a sexy smile if its a guy and once he see's my cleavage he lets me go without checking nuthing...lol can't believe i said that but they are flirts and its tru 4 me at least. take cash please. cash is important. Also if you have tmobile, or a at&t wireless phone that uses a sim card all you have to do is get it unlocked here and once u get there you can buy a sim card and register it. really cheap like a few hundred naira. awwww have fun i'm excited for you wish i was going. take mosquito repellent as well. it never worked for me but it works for my sis.

  14. Hello VJ's. I hope all is well with everyone. I just wanted to provide a little status update on my situation. A few days after I posted this. I emailed the Nigeria embassy and asked them to cancel the K-1 visa. I also mailed a certified letter to the USCIS Vermont, and the National Visa Center. The next day the Lagos embassy emailed me back and stated that the application has been sent back to the Vermont center. Vermont sent me a letter stating that the application is on administrative processing. Have not heard anything since I received that letter.

As far as the relationship goes, it is over, and probably was over before I even cancelled the visa application. I just don't think he really gets it. I try to explain to him the reason why I broke up with him. I guess he wants to act stupid. He did end up finally going to another country in September, so in actuality he could have went to the Visa interview because it was scheduled for June 13. He just didn't want to. I don't talk to him much. He still has not paid me anything for the cancel visa application; even though he is working. It is not about the money.. it is about principal. If you love me and appreciate me holding you down while you had nothing, then it should be your honor to hold me down when things are going well for you. It is all good because I am doing good and even better without him. I have my peace of mind and happiness back. I'm good.

I wish all of you the best while going through this visa journey.

OMG i didn't see this before i posted. I am so sorry to hear this. Well its better you found out before it was too late honey. God bless you.

  15. Hmmmmmm it does sound suspicious that he is demanding you send him money, its strange that he is willing to abandon the petition if it doesn't come through soon. Patience is golden. I suggest you talk with him very well and let him know straight up that you've both put too much into this for him to go and mess it up! Naija is hard ooo i swear i have lived there and my husband lives there so i can imagine what he may be experiencing but it is also his country and he should be accustom to getting by. I personally have no problem sending my husband money because we are married and because he has taken care of me when i am in naija and i don't spend one dime of my money. Also when i do send him money he doesn't ask for it i just send it out of love and the need for him to be okay. But your case is different. Is this the first time he is asking you for money?? Shine ur eyes dear and be very watchful!

  16. You will be surprised how quickly time flies! Just keeping busy, as you will definitely be with all that going on, and he will be here before you know it. Congrats on the new baby! One little tip, I wish someone had told me...print out your chats, emails, and phone records every month. Otherwise it is a HUGE task.

Oh yes! I surely will! Thanks everyone for the love! I will surely keep the faith. God is on our side.
