  1. Hi all, my fiancee told me she read in the package given to her at consulate she read something that advised against buying a plane ticket with stops. I have been shopping and found an affordable fare that originates in Ecuador and stops in Panama for connection to NYC. Is this stop going to be a problem? Any advise? Thanks.

  2. In the original application I listed New York City as port of entry. I'm shopping for plane tkts and we are trying to save money on airfare. There is a flight that makes one stop in Atlanta GA. Would there be a problem if I buy that ticket for her? I mean her port of entry would be Atlanta, custom and immigration will be done there. Any one knows? Thanks once again.

  3. Dear VJ community, I'm happy to report that a process that started back in August of last year has finally yeilded a positive outcome. My soon to be wife was interviewed today and was a pproved for a visa. We are so happy and I am so thankful to VJ posters who always responded to my inquiries in a very precise manner. Thanks to all of you and I hope and advise to those who are beginning this process, to have patience and perseverance. Long distance relationships are a rocky road to travel but in the end its all good. BTW, her interview was in Guayaquil, Ecuador and despite the fact that I was not there, whe was approved. I'm popping the champagne tonight. Salud!!!!

  4. They will ask you these questions for sure in the interview or as a minimum you have to be prepared to answer them. You need to have prove that she is not a widowed and that her son's father did not marry her. Get something certified from El Registro Civil before you go so you can show it was an honest mistake. They will go ahead with the application act calm and take as much documentation with you as you can do not take anything lightly. Here are the three things that can happen. 1 you get approved the visa, 2. your appliacation is put under review (this could take a couple of months) 3. You are denied and have to file again.

Thank you so much for your input. Hope it all goes ok.

  5. You will probably just get an RFE. If you listed your fiance as widowed you would have needed to include a death certificate and you did not. So you will have to explain that you were mistaken. That is all I can think of.

    Good luck!

We already received the NOA2 and we are getting ready for the interview. I'm just wondering how to address this issue, at the interview or should I call the consulate.

  6. In the rush of sending all the required documentation for my I29F, I made a couple of errors i.e. selected widow for my fiancee (she's never married but her son's father died a few years ago), wrote her son's DOB wrong (just the year) and wrote his name the way she calls him (Andy instead of Andrew). Will these be red flags for the interview? Any one with similar experiences? I appreciate any input from the forum.

  7. Congrats!! It goes to NVC...gets assigned a case number and then forwarded onto the embassy. They send it DHL to the embassy and may send it electronically also. You can call the NVC in a few days and see if they have it in the system...our was only there for a fews days. Good Luck!

Thank you so much! looking forward to a wonderful summer here.

Wow, we are in the exact same situation! August filers(VSC), Waited till March just to get RFE, Responded back right away, Got RFE receipt from VSC on March 11, and now still waiting for VSC to do something.

Yeah, i was told by many people that after you send in the required documents for RFE that you should be approved in about 2 weeks. But yet again VSC disappoints! I think that is our first problem. Yeah, it does says that we should hear something within 60 days....Monday will be 30 days...I was planning on sending them an email to see if i can get any sort of response. Also have to see how all this Government shutdown goes.

I did see another fellow August filer approval on Igor's list a couple days ago. Just hope our approval comes quickly. Otherwise i will have to plan a trip just so that we stay in the "seeing in person within the last 2 years" requirement! Wasn't planning on another trip....but i also didn't think we would be waiting over 8 months just for an NOA2 for a K1 visa.

Good luck and God Bless, stay in touch.

Now I see the sense in the ex[ression "misery loves company", LOL. we are feeling a bit miserable due to the wait but its kind of consoling to know that we have not been singled out. I did speak to a Tier 2 person and she told me that its too early to call blah blah blah. She was polite though and somewhat symphathetic. Yep, I am making that trip next month, an early honeymoon of sorts. Not to abuse the popular sayings, but when you are given lemons, make some lemonade, or something to that effect. Personnally I will make some Mojitos. Cheers!

  9. if am reading this right am afraid your going to have to wait a little bit longer then 2 weeks for your NOA2

most people get they NOA2 (from the NOA1 date) average time of about 5-6 months (slightly longer then 90 days)

We received our NOA1 on August 27th. 2010. We are in our 8th month. It's beginning to feel like we are waiting for a baby as we approach the 9th month. The RFE was answered and USCIS received it on March 11th.

  10. Hello everyone. We received an RFE, they needed my certified divorce decree. I answered and received an acknowledgement of receipt email from USCIS on March 11th. I understnad that their time frame allows for up to 60 days but most people get a NOA2 within two weeks. For us its been almost a month. Any one in our similar situation? BTW, we are Vermont filers. Thanks all.

  11. Hi All,

Just wanted to let you all know that today my fiancé has called me and she was approved for visa finally. Interview went well and tomorrow she will go back to pick up her passport with VISA in it. Ohh yeah...

It was a long journey, no questions about that, but patience has paid off. I wish all members good luck in their journey.

I wanted to say thanks to this forum and to all member that take their time in helping others and giving good advice. Very much appreciated all. THANK YOU....

I am sooooooo happy and glad that this is done. She will be here within a month and can't be more happy about it… OMG…. It's a great day for us today.

I have not really looked at next step moving forward once she arrives here, but as far as I know now we have to get married, apply for social security card and adjustment of status. Am I missing anything???

Can someone please be kind enough and to point me in a right direction of steps to take once she arrives here. Sorry I am beyond happy and I can barely type and at work ...

    Thanks.

    CONGRATULATIONS!

Every time I read news about visa approvals I get a glimpse of hope that our moment is here. I live vicariously through other VJ members. Please give your soon to be wife a warm welcome to our great nation! May health, love and prosperity be always with you.

  12. Our NOA1 is from Aug. 27. I had a friend who works for a congressman call on my behalf once and I have personally called twice. My friend was told that because of the holidays, December did not "count" toward the 5 months projection and to expect something in Feb. I personally called about two weeks ago and was told that if I did not get an answer by Feb. 27, I should place a service request. Since I'm so patient (wink) I called again yesterday and was told that a service request was untimely because I was within the 5 month projection and that I should wait two months before I call again and ask for a service request. However I see that Vermont filers around my NOA1 date are being approved these days. I hope we all get a reply really soon or I'm gonna have to call my good friend Barack to expedite things LOL! Let's hang in there, hopefully we will be able to show our fiance(e)s what a great celebration is the Fourth of July for us.

  13. Praise the Lord!! Thank you USCIS for reviewing and approving the petition!! We got approved today!! My fiance put on a service request yesterday and the next day we got approved. The news came via sms and email. We are looking forward to the next stage and pass the interview. To those who are waiting, good luck and please keep the faith! Your day will come!

A trillion Congratulations to you both!!! Love is in the air. I have a question for you. How long past the 5 month mark were you when your fiance put a service request? We are only about 4 days past it and for us seems like we are 4 decades past it, LOL. Thanks and congrats again.

  14. Why Vermont work so late?

I had a personal friend of mine, who works for my congressman, call Vermont and they told her exactly what florinaRO states. Due to the holidays the time line is extended by one month. February is the new fifth month for August filers. That being said, a person who works in the same agency I do and who filed in early August, fgot her NOA2 in early December. Go figure!
