  3. hey everyone, you guys have been great in answering questions so far.....so here's another one. i think my case is pretty complication (my lawyer agrees). i entered into the US on june 11th, 2007 with a B-2 stamp on I-94, due to the immigration inspector it expired on august 31st, 2007. i applied for an extenstion of the B-2 before i sent my AOS package away. my AOS is still being looked at, but my EAD has been printed and is being sent to me, and i recieved my AP today. I recieved an extenstion on my B-2 dated until February 29th, 2008. i am planning on going back to my home country (Canada) to visit family in July. i am not sure if i will have my GC before then.

i have read on my AP that if i leave the country 180 after the expiry of my I-94 they might not let me back in regardless of my AP.

anyone with experience or an answer would be greatly appreciated to answer! and thank you guys as well for everything!

    Scott

The general rule of thumb is not to leave the US until you have your GC...even if you have AP. It is the Border Patrol/Immigration Officer's descresion whether or not you will be allowed to re-enter the country. [at least that's how an atty explained it to me and my husband]

  4. I know that couples that marry within their own culture can clash on how to raise children and I know that step-families can be another challenge too. My situation is I have a 9 year old daughter from a previous marriage and my husband does not have any children. My husband has been here over a year and it has sometimes been difficult because we have differing views on how to raise children.

My husband is from Morocco and I've spent a total of 3 months there with his family and 10 brothers and sisters and his 20 nieces and nephews. My husband definitely has been around children that is for sure. And all the nieces and nephews adore him.

Some things I observed from watching his family with children that is somewhat different here in the US:

    1) There are usally a lot of other children around so they can play together

    2) The older kids tend to take care of the younger ones

    3) The moms don't work outside the home but usually busy with cleaning/cooking/socializing with other women

From what I've seen in the short time I've been there, it doesn't seem that there is a lot of one on one with the kids or that the kids have a lot of interaction with the parents. Or maybe it's just my husband's family.

My husband feels that I am too involved with my daughter and that she needs to do more things by herself. That just feels foreign to me and it's caused a lot of tension.

Anyone else have these same thoughts/feelings/observations? Or please just share your experiences, PLEASE?!!

Sounds like a conversation my husband and I had earlier this week....

And he feels like if I/we tell my 9 yr old son to do something, he should do it automatoically, which would be nice I admit, but just not likely. Lord knows it took my parents a couple of times before I did anything...so in this case...like mother like son!

ETA: My son also doesn't have any children either

  5. So what do people do for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 months?

I can't even stand one more day of doing nothing with my life.

I have sacrificed my career for almost 3 years to keep the long distant relationship goin,

and now I feel so trapped and helpless.

Thank you for your quick reply Mae.

You could always do some type of volunteer work at a hospital, nursing facility, or even at a school--I know my son's school is awlays looking for volunteers. It doesn't pay, but it would get you some references for when the time comes to look for the real thing. Just a thought.

  7. I posted this in the other forums but really didnt get the answer I was looking for.

My husband is here on a K3, our I130 has been stuck in name check since 2005. After my husband arrived, we filed for AOS and had our AOS interview in July 2007. We were told since our I130 has not been approved yet, that our AOS couldnt be approved until approval of the I130. Well last week, we finally had our I130 interview and we are still clueless with what will happen next? Will my husband finally get his greencard?

Has anybody been in this situation where there husband came over on a K3 without the approval of an I130? My husband's EAD will be expiring in summer and I do not know if we should wait until we hear something or just go ahead and start the papers to renew his EAD.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :help:

Go ahead and start the EAD renewal process....we waited per atty's advice, didn't file until Sept. 07 had Biometrics in November, and are STILL waiting for the stupid thing  ...and as of yet we haven't gotten his GC ....and we had an apporved I-130 ....

    Good Luck!

  8. I had my interview appointment in Newark today. When Arriving at 8:30 a.m., they closed the whole building due to power outage (water in the basement). Quite a mess with hundreds of people trying to get in the building. At first no information given to the people waiting outside.

Question should I just go back there tomorrow or now wait until I hear from them?

    Stevie

I would go back tomorrow and see if they can squeeze you in, it wasnt your fault or there fault

GO BACK by all means....DO NOT give them a reason to deny you. It doesn't take much---even getting a hard copy of an interview cancellation doesn't stop them from denying you. TRUST ME....

  9. Hey guys,

I know it been awhile since I've been on the site, however, everything is or should I say was going well until a letter that I received on the mail saying that they have cancelled our interview date which was supposed to held on March. One thing I don't get is that we have received the confirmation letter a day prior to the cancellation one. It says:

This is to advise you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have canceled the previously scheduled interview on March 2008 for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. You will be notified of any further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under serapate notice.

I'm wondering did any been thru this before? should I be worried?

Your help will be really appreciated.

    Thanks guys.

Go to the interview anyway! We received an e-mail, and the regular mail saying that our interview for Feb. 1, 2007 was cancelled....and out Atty received the hardcopy also, so we didn't go and got denied for failure to appear for interview.....had to pay $385 to REOPEN the file and didn't get out interview rescheduled until Aug. Now we are still waiting for a decision, and just recieved an appointment for Biometrics Again for the AOS.....

Just simplier to go......the worst they can tell you if you go is that it was canceled...if you don't go, you could get denied.

    Mary K.

  10. My brother-in-law and his wife have/had an AOS interview scheduled for the end of this month. They received a cancellation letter in the mail last week.

I've read many times here that even if you receive a cancellation letter, you should go to your regularly scheduled interview anyway. I would really appreciate feedback from you guys. You've all been so helpful with my own journey.

    Thanks in advance!!

GO to the interview!!! Trust ME...we finally had our interview rescheduled for last Aug 1--AFTER we received a denial for not going----easier to just go anyway---the worst taht could happen is that they tell them to go back home.

  11. Still up working on the MRO to take to the field office later today. To keep from going nuts, hubster and I are watching Jeff Dunham's latest DVD. We enjoy the wisdom of Jose Jalapeno on a Steek.

 This stikes me as SOOO Funny...my husband, my son and I all like him. My son enjoys the "Jalenpeno on a stick" so much he wants his B-day cake to be as close to it as I can get!!

  12. We are now at 800 days since filing for AOS. Just wanted to put that out there - it seems many are surprised when they hear of lengthy AOS waits, perhaps because we aren't as vocal about it. There are others much worse off than us, and at least we are together. Just wanted to provide an update - this is not a pity me thread, or where is my greencard thread :) - like I said I just wanted to put it out there, the world does not end if your greencard is not in hand in a quick turnaround.

    :star:

Thanks LaL! Makes me feel better--we haven't been waiting as long, but at least I'm reminded that we're not alone in this AOS hell.
